I missed it too and was hoping that there was a link to archives at Fox where at least the audio would be available.

I only caught the tail end. Coach Joe was again talking about the need to make more at-large bowl bids available to teams as opposed to all of the conference tie-ins. He said that, with the current system, "bowl games are determined before the season even begins" and that teams that have a good year -- like NIU and UConn this year and Toledo amd Miami in previous years -- cannot get rewarded because bowls are obligated to stick with their conference affiliations.

Other than lamenting the BCS, Novak stated:
- The successful 2003 season has helped recruiting this year.
- Increased TV exposure has greatly helped the program with respect to recruiting.
- NIU loses 10 very productive Seniors, 17 Seniors in all. But many good players return next year.
- Satisfaction with the last 3 or 4 recruited classes.
- NIU should remain competitive in 2004. Not too much of a drop off.
The competitive statement was exciting to me; especially considering Novak's "Holtzian" ways in interviews.
