WMU moves up to #7 but WMU doesn't have "MAC/" in front, can't see Kent State anywhere and UCF is a #14 seed.

Thanks for the link!

Make that 14-2 for UCF....beating Belmont in front of a huge crowd, but more importantly a LOUD crowd.

Wow, a huge crowd of 2,336? That's not meant as a jab, just curious if 2,336 was huge compared to what UCF averages or if that's all the gym holds.

2,300 is a huge crowd for a UCF game. The Arena UCF plays in only holds 3,000-3,500. But, we usually don't get close to the capacity. People are slowly realizing that this is a GOOD team.

Understandable statement. A crowd of 2,336 doesn't seem like much. But the reason us UCF fans are so excited is...

UCF BB has had crowds of only 700-800 a few years ago. Last year we prolly avg about 1100 just based on what I can remember. So to have back to back games with over 2200 in attendance is big for us, in fact its probably the first time in school history that has ever happened.

Also the arena we play in is not very big. The max capacity is 5100 but that is for graduations where they put chairs on the floor (where the court is). For basketball I have heard two different numbers, 3100 or 3500. Hopefully we will find out come Jan 31st for the big Troy St game when we sellout! 03-wink

So when you have 2300 in that place it is REALLY a great atmosphere, and very LOUD! Especially considering the high percentage of students that have been making up the crowd :)

Luckily we are supposed to be breaking ground on a new 10,000 seat convocation center THIS year. I think it will really boost attendance because the current arena is horrible. One-third of the "upper deck" seats are terrible because you can't even see the entire court, plus they are the plastic bench seats which are very uncomfortable. I know I have failed to get people out to games when the know all the reserved seats are sold out.

So thats why UCF people are very pumped right now. Not to mention that all the local news channels are leading their sports coverage with UCF basketball game highlights and post-game interviews IN FRONT of the Magic, and they don't even show post-game interviews for them.

Its truely a UCF Basketball dream season so far! 04-rock 04-rock 04-rock

If I am :snore: please don't wake me up! 05-nono

THanks for the list of A-sun teams guys. That showdown with the Campbell Camels has got to be a barnburner every year!

No but I guarantee that Belmont, Georgia St, FAU, Mercer and Troy St would give any MAC team a run for their money. Oh and add us to that list :D

A-Sun is not a top conference by any means, but its probably not as bad as most people think either.

Current RPI:
Georgia St 78
Belmont 79
UCF 96
Troy St 102
Mercer 186
Florida Atl 251

Ranked 20th overall as a conference.

Looks like a very up year for the A-Sun, at least judging by the top four here. Don't see much about Fl. Atl. that shows they belong with the others, or even Mercer, really. Still, with the best RPI at 78, it's a one-bid conference, obviously. As the year goes on, unless one team dominates the other top 3- teams, it will be difficult to keep even one team in the top 100 as the SOS keeps dropping. If they all beat each other up, the RPI's will deteriorate in a hurry.
Western Mich. has been winning and winning and their last 4 wins have dropped them from #13 RPI to #40 RPI today.
#40 is generally considered the cutoff for at-large bids, especially for non-majors. We once didn't get in with a 36 RPI (1999-2000).
