NIU pays head football coach Joe Novak a paltry $140,000. Head basketball coach Rob Judson is payed the same.
By contrast, newly named head coach George O'Leary at UCF will be paid $700,000 base per season for five years. Nick Saban of LSU will net over $2.6 million per under his new deal.
Those of you connected to the other MAC schools can you post what your coaches make!!!
Not sure how accurate this information is, but I did find info on a few schools.
Novak makes a base of $142,104. NIU did not release any info about what money, if any, he makes from performance bonuses, TV/radio appearances, or if he gets a car or golf club memberships, etc.
Brandon from BG makes a base of $130K, with an additional $20K from radio/TV appearances. He gets a golf membership, but no car. He also gets performance bonuses for:
MAC West title, MAC Championship, plus a bowl game victory = $2,000
MAC coach of the year: $1,000
Graduation rate of 70% or higher: $2,000
Average home attendance greater than 17K: $2,000
Average home attendance greater than 22K: $4,000 (includes the $2K for getting over 17K in attendance)
= $159,000 total potential salary + golf club membership
Hoeppner's base is $117,880. The university either did not make his TV/radio compensation available, or he doesn't get any. He gets a car and a golf membership. He also gets a $2,500 incentive compensation payment, $2,000 Wilson contract payment, and $4,000 Nike contract payment = $126,380 + car(s) + golf club membership.
According the newspaper reports, new CMU coach Brian Kelly will make $170K (not sure how structured, and if this includes the value of cars, golf memberships, tv/radio money etc.) to be the head coach, offensive coordinator, and QB coach.
WMU's Gary Darnell's base is $140K, and with radio/tv money, performance incentives (top 25, bowl game appearance, graduation rate, MAC championship, coaching honors, and attendance), and university incentives, it could boost his total potential compensation to over $225K.
