Obviously...and knocked the sense out of you.

Toledo has a had a couple of incidents. Mostly, one last year and another this year. No one was stabbed, no one was charged with malicious wounding, no one was arrested twice for beating their girlfriends. Where do you get your idiotic statements about UT being like Marshall? Also, do you know what punishments were given to the couple of UT players who got into trouble?

He makes them wear brown and orange out in public. Personally, I find that to be much too harsh.

Certainly harsher than Hefflin's penalty of having to play out the entire season. 03-razz

Imo, it's even harsher than the day after day of stairs he had to run and the countless substance abuse classes that he had to attend (with Amstutz at his side). Can you imagine how humiliating it must be to appear in public wearing those colors?

I'm just saying...wait a second. That sound...it's not a broom, that's a street sweeper. After reading these posts, I realize that you are not sweeping it under the rug. You are going all out with this one. In all honesty, I could care less if your whole team goes to prison. I just wanted to point out the fact that you are all so quick to rule that the players were saints. That's all...

Also, in the future, don't throw stones, as you may accidently break out a window, or worse...a structural wall.

You're an idiot. I mean that sincerely. Rockets7, you are a dumb as the proverbial box of rocks. No one has swept anything under the rug. The players involved have been identified publically, their court dates announced and the charges they are facing have been revealed. Sources within the University and close to the team have verified that the players in question were acting on behalf of the "rent a cops" present at the fraternity party. The consensus opinion is that they will be exonerated when they appear in court on April 14th. I suggest you check back then.

This incident is in no way close to the serious offenses committed by the out of control drunkards that coach Doughnut has turned loose on otherwise innocent Toledoans. Dodrill leads the police on a car chase endangering senior citizens, small children and the police themselves. Burkes and Jenkins assist the police in detaining some ruffians bent on ruining an otherwise pleasant evening of Christian fellowship and merriment.

Let me sum this up in a fashion that your miniscule intellect can process:

BG is good.

UT is bad.

04-drinky (is this smiley going to replace Rocky as your mascot?)

Flip,

Name calling gets us no place. As far as your statement that I am "a dumb as the proverbial box of rocks;" well, that statement tends to speak for itself. Either way, I have been known to carry fairly high accolades both academically and professionally. I could argue IQ scores, GPA's, and degree difficulties all day but I am not interested in this. I am interested in calling fans as I see them. I have always been told that if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, then it is probably a duck. Or maybe as I've heard they say in BG: if it walks like a sheep and "bleats" like a sheep, it's probably a sheep.

My point is: as a supporter of another MAC team, the actions of fans of other MAC teams and the other teams themselves indirectly represent my favorite team. I feel that it appears that BG fans are writing this off as if the players are saints. Vigilance is rarely the answer in our society. As members of the MAC, we can not allow football players taking "justice" into their own hands. What frightens me even more is the fact that you stated that sources within the university and those close to the team have verified that the players were acting on behalf of the police. Is your university or coaching condoning this sort of behavior? I hope that was typed in error because I fear the impact that this will have on the MAC. I believe that Miami of Florida is dealing with a similar case with their new recruit, Willie Williams. If teams want respect from other teams and fans, they can not afford to turn their heads to this behavior.

I know what you are saying about Hefflin and Dodrill. I am happy that the Toledo coaching staff and the judicial system penalized Hefflin for his violations. I hope that Dodrill also pays for his mistakes, much as I hope that your players pay for their actions.

With this said, these players made a mistake. As Toledo fans, we understand this and hope corrective action is taken. We also still hope that after paying for their mistakes, we can see Dodrill, Burkes, and Jenkins on the football field next year. Nobody wants to crucify these players because like everyone else, they make mistakes. Like everyone else though, there comes a time to pay the piper.

Unless it's something really, really minor like pleading guilty to slashing tires. :D

Not found guilty of anything, yet, but:
•immediately suspended from the football team
•suspended from the university, pending appeal
•his court date is June 21. If guilty, he'll be gone and gone.

Why do you ask? Going to suggest some changes to UT's disciplinary policies?

Rockets7, lighten up. This is a smack board, remember?

The BGSU adminstration is currently investigating the incident involving Burkes and Reese. I'm sure that Coach Brandon will mete out an appropriate punishment should one be deemed necessary. It is worth noting that the other two students involved in the disturbance were cited for disorderly conduct and fighting. Burkes and Reese were cited only for disorderly conduct. On the surface, that would seem to suggest that the responding officer read the situation the way it's been reported here.

At any rate, this matter is in no way shape or form as serious as the incidents involving Dodrill, Hefflin or that OL who assaulted his neighbor. The charges (or lack thereof) alone should tell you that.

Nope, our policy has gotten the job done pretty well so far. When it doesn't, I'm sure that we'll be able to institute changes without Kent's help.

Punishments should fit the crime, so far I'm satisfied with how that has worked for us. The recidivism rate would seem to suggest that it's working.

I look forward to watching Cribbs next season.

I'm sure Toledo fans are very happy with the UT policy!
I know at Kent, we don't intend to have a recidivism rate to measure.

So, you'll cut off all support for Kent if/when Cribbs plays this Fall, I assume?

I will be very happy if he plays.
If Cribbs plays this fall, that will mean he was found not guilty. When one of our athletes is guilty, they are done. And if he doesn't play, he will have only himself to blame and will have my pity.
I've never given a dime to football anyway. 90% of my donations over the years have been to academic areas and will continue to be regardless of athletic successes and failures.

My guess is that he pleads down, gets a suitable punishment from the team, and plays. Life will go on and hopefully he'll have learned his lesson.

It's not up to the team. University-wide policy for athletes--guilty and you are dismissed from your program. Too much self-serving lack of discipline meted out by coaches for whom winning is their main priority.
Football team had some real problems pre-Pees, so now all athletes are held to a higher standard than other students. It's worked well.
Even so, the student conduct court has suspended him from the university, but that is under appeal.
Actually, I think the domestic violence charge will get dropped entirely--he's the one who called the police on that--and there are real questions about search violations in the pot case and it would not surprise me to see that get dropped to. But if he's found guilty or pleads to any of this, even a misdemeanor pot possession charge, his football career at Kent is over, period.
