Sadly, yes, without Cribbs, 7th is quite possible for Kent. This would be a drop of 4 spots from 3rd which is what I probably would have said 2 months go.

Central has a really soft MAC slate next year. They should do well.
Buffalo with 3 MAC wins? Not sure about it.
I don't think Miami will be much better than 5-3 in MAC play.

I think CMU is on the decline and EMU is on the rise. Buffalo? Yeah, they scored 29 points at Toledo last year and I expect them to take the momentum of their b-ball team into the fall.
Buffalo MAC Schedule:
@ EMU - LOSS
@ Ohio - WIN
vs UCF - LOSS
@ Akron - LOSS
vs Miami - LOSS
@ Marshall - LOSS
vs Kent - WIN
vs CMU - WIN
Heck, they might even beat EMU and go 4-4.
CMU MAC Schedule:
vs Kent - WIN
vs BGSU - LOSS
@ NIU - LOSS
@ Toledo - LOSS
vs WMU - LOSS (WMU will break the jinx at CMU)
@ EMU - LOSS
@ Buffalo - LOSS
vs Ball State - LOSS
There schedule isn't as nice when you consider EMU and Buffalo are on the road.

If you have Buffalo beating Ohio on the road (which has never happened) where is Ohio's second win comming?

Wins over Kent and UCF..........you have to consider that some teams will beat some teams that are decent or good, but lose to others that are not as good. That makes your picks closer to reality.

I think CMU will be more competitive than most expect. They just picked up the best coach in DII from Grand Valley St. They will win a few games. Here's my predictions:
East
Miami
Marshall
Akron
UCF
Buffalo
OU
Kent
West
Toledo
NIU
BGSU
CMU
WMU
BSU
EMU

Just think about what your saying here:
Ohio will lose to Buffalo in Peden when the two crappiest coaches in the MAC collide......
and-
Ohio will beat UCF on the road against hot shot coach O'leary......
I would think Ohio would take the Bulls at home first. Sure there will be some upsets across the MAC this season, but you don't predict upsets as much as predict who a school would likely beat.

Bowling Green, out of any school in the MAC that could more likely survive the loss of their quarterback. Greg Brandon's system made Josh Harris look good and could do so for the next guy.
So many on here are really high on Miami next year, but if anyone in college football graduated a one man quarterback show it was the Redhawks. They'll still finish above .500, second in the east but they would be my pick to slip in 2004.
I think Eastern hasn't proven itself yet. A decent half season doesn't make one "on the rise". If anyone appears to be on the rise in the MAC West it just might be Ball State with the improved recruiting.

Like I kind of already said, not everything happens just like expected. If that was the case then Toledo would not have lost at Ball State the last three times we played there. Akron wouldn't have beat Marshall back in 2002. EMU would not have defeated UCF last year, and so on.
If you pick everything just by what the stats and facts show, you will miss some games that turn out unexpectedly. For instance....how many people thought Marshall would win at #6 Kansas State last year? Yet it happened. How many people outside of Toledo thought that the Rockets would beat #9 Pittsburgh last year? Yet it happened. And those examples are alot bolder than picking Buffalo to beat Ohio and Ohio to beat UCF this fall.

In certain cases like the BG, NIU, and Toledo games, you figure each school will go about 1-1 against each other and its tough to predict. At this level it makes more sense to estimate three good MAC wins for each school although difficult to predict the exact conference games BG, Toledo and NIU will win.
You may as well say OU will win on the road up in Toledo if your just going to throw us a random MAC road win.
And BTW, we have 90% of our offense comming back and a new generation of lineman ready to restore Ohio Football to glory. The glass bowl is going to be filled with soft rockets after our victory.
We'll score Earley and often.

You don't have to agree with my predictions, and neither does anyone else. If I choose to say that Ohio will lose to Buffalo and they don't....oh well. I won't lose sleep over it.
