Temple Football Set to join Conference USA
Other Owl programs to follow in coming years
By Bob Brookover
Inquirer Staff Writer

(AP) Philadelphia, Pa. -

Temple University officials are expected to announce today that their wayward Football program has found a new home – In Conference USA. The officials, who will meet with members of the Conference USA offices in Chicago later today, are expected to announce an agreement by which Temple Football will join Conference USA as the league’s twelfth Football member. Such an agreement will allow the fledging league a chance to form a two-division league that will host a Conference Championship Game as soon as 2005.

“We’re extremely excited to be joining a league with the quality of teams Conference USA as in it.

Thank you C-USA for taking Temple and allowing the remaining MAC to stay intact. Taking Temple instead of a better football program allows the MAC to be just as good, if not better, than C-USA in football!

By the way.......that was originally posted on the C-USA board yesterday as an April Fool's joke so don't believe that C-USA has given them an official invite.

Excellent move for CUSA! Curious move by Temple, but their options were limited by their woeful football program. It wil be interesting how their hoops fans will take to this.

Axeme - It's a hoax. This story never appeared in the Philly News. And if it would have, this guy would have been guilty of copyright infringements. Since it didn't appear in the paper though, he has nothing to worry about.

This is BS! I've yet to find this story on any news show or any paper. Temple football and WKU basketball would be great, but I don't think this has any credibility.

It's a hoax. Very, very clever. 04-bow

Two clues:

1. If Temple was going to bring its other sports in within three years, why would Western Kentucky even be in the discussion?

2. The top indicates the story is by a Philadelphia Inquirer staff writer, but also includes the "(AP)." It is either one or the other. Not both.

Veeerry clever, though.

As soon as I read this I thought "April Fools". Although if it ever happens I see Temple football getting slaughtered in CUSA.

What I can tell you for a fact is that both Miami and Toledo have been offered membership in C-USA and both have respectfully declined to remain in the MAC.

Interesting. That doesn't surprise me.

How confident are you about this? Sources?

He said this yesterday on the C-USA board. He only replied with saying something about having inside sources. I can tell you that every insider at Toledo has said that we have not been contacted by C-USA at all. I believe our insiders before I believe someone from another school.

It doesn't matter anyway. Either way, Toledo is not going anywhere as it stands right now.
