ASU has been very inconsistent the last five games. Slow starts are killing us and we're not shooting the ball well. Here are the biggest problems as I see it:

* Shawn Hall's shot selection. We'd be nowhere without this kid, but he shoots too many wild 3s. Against Davidson he did his best work driving to the hoop for buckets, but when we cut it to four he puts up a contested 3 that isn't close. 30 shots is too many even for a shooter like him in a crucial game.

* Chris McFarland is inconsistent. One game he has 20, the next, a la Davidson, zippo. Houston Fancher says he didn't play because of defense. This kid needs to use his athleticism to become an all-around player that he is definitely capable of.

* The rotation. Davidson has several big players but we never use Carson, Mitchell and Shehan at the same time. Why not?

* Slow starts. We need to get off to better starts in games. We fell too far behind in both Davidson games. Start off evenly or at least close and we probably would have won both games.

* Defense. At times we get after it and other times there's like a red carpet to the goal for layups. Players need to help one another more.

I'm concerned we've peaked too early. There's still time to make a run at the tournament title, but right now I don't know if we'll make it to the semis.

I think the team peaked back in January. The win at UTC was the high point. Hopefully, they can make a run in the tourney. However, reality tells me it will probably be one win and out, at best.

I know one thing. ETSU fans cannot wait until next Saturday. They were pretty much already claiming the SoCon north crown after their 89-86 win over us last night. Good luck! GO CATS!! 04-cheers

Last I checked, ASU was only winning over UNCG 30-29. What's up with that Apps?! (ETSU leading FU 55-47.) The battle for the North Division is getting interesting. GO CATS!!
