Well, with Sitko out for the season, it appears that the offense is going to lose a weapon as Coach Martin has to sit Smith out as the back-up QB in case of injury. That sucks because he is so talented. Additionally, how little does the coaching staff think of Polk since they would rather sit Smith and promote an untested Prop guy to 3rd string?

I think what makes this injury worse was that it appeared to be a non-contact injury. Watching live at the game, it appeared that he just got hit and bent in an ackward position, but after I got home and watched the tape, it looks like the knee gave out on him when he planted before contact. Hope he has a successful surgery, and a speedy recovery.

You know, Flash, I was never all that wild about Smith as a WR anyway. The risk of injury is way too high....healthy Sitko or not.
Expect to see plenty of Smith this year: Cribbs will get hurt at some point, we get a cushion, or just plain rotations with Cribbs like last year. Look at it this way, the best service Antwon Smith can provide for the Flashes this year is to apprentice under Josh and soak up Martin's offensive system. Besides, I think our receivers will come around.

Combine Martin's track record in developing QB's with a glimpse of this kid's potential....I can't wait to see Antwon Smith leading the Flashes in the next two years. 04-rock

I really haven't had the opportunity to see Smith at QB so I wasn't sure what his potential was. I was just going on the fact that it's good to have the best talent on the field. My guess is that Pees needed talent on the field to win immediately and he was going to use all of his assets. Martin on the other hand is looking to win now AND build for the future so he wants to protect this asset. Can't blame him. Hopefully, I will get to see Smith at QB in the second half on Sat. :D

It may also be telling about how good Smith is since the QB from Pitt decided to transfer to Akron. Maybe he looked at the KSU depth at QB and decided there was no room for him. That or Martin didn't want him. 03-lol

The QB probably went from Pitt to Akron because his coach did and is now the Zips Head Coach.

Trust me, Martin would have taken him.

I'm sure the Pitt QB has skills, and he's back with a coach he must get along with. Good for him.

I'm not worried about QB for the Flashes. We'll pick up another one in recruiting, but until he comes along, Smith and Sitko will do just fine. From what I read about recruiting we are on the defensive hunt, especially for linemen. And it doesn't bother me at all that Wauford and Restkis are on the prowl for us.
