I just ordered my Akron game tickets today so that I can go straight to my seats since I am coming from Cleveland after work. In talking to the ticket office people, it seems that sales aren't going that briskly at this point. I asked for a particular row/section in the reserved section and she said that there was no problem at all. I said I was suprised that there was no problem with seats and she stated that they were a bit surprised as well.:(
Three possible conclusions:
1. Sales may pick up after the Liberty game and everyone has seen this team.
2. There may be a big walkup that night (Thus, making me happy I bought tickets in advance)
3. We are in real trouble for the 15K requirement since this is a game they are counting on.

Don't despair, YET. There are a few things to keep in mind:
1) Remember that KSU students would not be going through the ticket office as they get free admission with their student I.D. It is a Thursday night game.
2) I'm not positive about how it works for away teams, but the Zippies likely have their own set of tickets to sell to their fans. For Kent away games, I've been asked to call the KSU athletic department because "we have our own seats to sell and it helps us out." Plus, away fans can all sit together if they order from the same block of tickets. Doesn't matter where fans buy their tickets...all we want is B.I.S. at Dix.
3) Momentum will build for this game over the next two weeks...unless the Zips are 1-2 or 0-3 by that point. Their fans may be too embarrassed to show up. After all, doesn't seem to me that too many work their way over for basketball games because potential :chair:, even though they have surprised us.
Speaking of attendance, has anyone seen the student raffles announced yet?

Last year Akron's attendance was 26,814. I would think we would get at least that many, Hopefully, there will be a lot of walk ups, although if Akron comes in 0-3, then the bloom might be off the rose for their fans.
I am a more interested in Saturday. I hope you don't see rain with the reminants of Francis. Does anyone have a forecast?

Having already lost to Penn State and with MTSU and UVa coming up, it is most likely that Akron will be 1-2 coming into the Kent game and there is a good chance the Zips will be 0-3.
