Final results: NIU: 37%, Illinois: 26%, SIU: 13%, NW: 12%, and so on.

The results were posted prominently on the back page of the sports which is the college football section every Friday. The blurb was titled: "State's best? NIU gets nod".

Thanks to all loyal MAC fans (20 lashes with a wet noodle for Stick for voting for WIU!) for voting!

The actual title of the best college team in Illinois will be decided on the field tomorrow. NIU plays Southern Illinois, who is currently ranked number one in division 1AA. Should be a very good game and a sellout in Dekalb. Thank you to all MAC fans for particpating in the poll!!!

Today the answer is Huskies are the best in the state (sweet! -- Illinois, maybe if you would schedule Northern, you could take back the title?)

After tomorrow's games the answer will be the same-- Huskies best in Illinois.

While it is nice to win in the poll, we now have to do it on the field. Unfortunately, it looks like that may not happen.
:( :crying: 03-banghead

I hate those directional AA Illinois teams.

Its pretty sad that the game to determine the best team in Illinois is NIU v. SIU.

I watched a bit of the NIU game on Fox, and even though they had their #2 QB and two wide receivers out, it looked like NIU would grind out a comfortable victory when up 23-9 in the fourth quarter.....gotta give SIU loads of credit for that last drive, and even though they lost I think their Coach did the right thing in going for 2 at the end of the game (away against a IA opponent on a hot day). The receiver was wide open in the endzone, and although NIU put a good rush on the QB (forcing him to throw on the run a tad early), the ball was catchable, and it was a good play by SIU.

Just looks like the MAC doesn't have any powerful teams this year, but at this juncture I'd rate Marshall, BG and the NIU as the best 3 teams....that assumes that Haldi can come back from his stress fracture. By the way, nice SO crowd at NIU for the TV game. Man, NIU has come a long way in attendance the last 3 years!
