In the CBSSportsline position ratings, Garrett Wolfe is currently #7.

Dan Shelon is alos #7 for receivers, Brad Cieslak #14 for TE. I could not find Josh Haldi, but Horvath is ranked #94.

If Wolfe finishes the season with 200 yards avg in the last 4 games (UT, EMU, MACC, Bowl) he will be the best running back ever at NIU as far as I am concerned.
I would love to see NIU get a guy drafted in the first round, and if he keeps this up for two more years he has a real shot. I would have said no way because of his size, but it is amazing he can carry the ball 30-40 times a game.

The MAC has 3 quarterbacks in the top 7 if you switch over to the qb list. Pretty impressive if you ask me. Bruce Gradkowski is ranked #1.

Wolfe just does not have the size for the NFL. He could run for 2000 yards the next two years and I would be surprised if he were drafted. However, I do recall a small, slow WR who hooked up the the Niners, so anything is possible.

Barry Sanders didn't have the size either - not that I am saying he is as good as Barry.
There are numerous pro's who were not "ideal" in size and have become all-stars.

Barry Sanders weighed close to 200 lbs, Wolfe is at 170 or so. Brian Westbrook, also considered small by todays standards is also close to 200 lbs. I have heard some talk about Mewelde Moores being small, he is 5-11 and 209.

Finally a guy with some sense. With all due respect to Wolfe he is an excellent back but when it comes to drafting a player it is not about how many yards you put up. Just ask Turner. The best case for Wolfe is that he hopes to get drafted late and get in a system that would allow him to excel as a third down back and return specialist but he must learn to punt return. Let get series here he is good but there were some great backs that precede him and not just for one year.

With AJ's size and speed, I would think he is a better pro prospect between G Dub and him.

Well Wolfe is a Sophomore - I am sure that he will put on 15-20 punds of muscle over the next several years.

True, but will he maintain his speed and quickenss at the heavier weight?
Adrian Peterson at Oklahoma is frosh and is in the 215 range.
Only time will tell, as it is, I truly love having Wolfe on this team, my heart races everytime he slips through the line. Lets just hope that he stays healthy and continues with his current success.

Isn't he averaging over 190 yards his last 6 games? That itself is pretty amazing.

BSU's Ridgeway is ranked #1.
<a href='http://www.sportsline.com/collegefootball/playerrankings/regularseason/WR' target='_blank'>Sportsline's Receiver Rankings</a>
I think it's incredible where MAC players stand in statistics and even recognition these days. If you go to ESPN.go.com (stats are updated more regularly), MAC players dominate the statistical leaders. Wolfe, Ridgeway, Gradkowski, Jacobs, Betts, Delauries, etc. It's amazing. Just a few years ago (heck, and even last year) we were crying for attention. The efforts of the league office, as well as the commitments and efforts of schools like NIU, Toledo, BG, and Miami (not to mention the thugs from Huntington) are paying off. Now let's just hope the conference can survive the attendance standards.
I was just looking at the rest of the rankings...
The QB rankings are amazing - Gradkowski #1, Jacobs #3, Betts #7, Frye #20.
Besides Wolfe, Biggs from Akron is #16 on the RB charts. Great showing by the MAC. The talent in this league is incredible.

Charlie Garner is only 190 lbs. He has over 7,000 yards in the NFL, and has averaged 4.6 ypc. Yes, he's been said to be too small, but 11 years in the NFL is pretty good. Wolfe is smaller still, and, of course, it's too soon to say how good he is. Having such a good offensive line makes it hard to tell. It's also too soon to say he'll only be a third-down back in the NFL.
Maybe I'm too optimistic, but there are plenty of guys playing in the NFL that were said to be 'too small'.
