.... because it illustrates how poorly the attendance criteria was conceived.

Of course, as a Miami alum I wouldn't exactly call it "good news", but the unusual occurance at the Indiana State game (stadium-clearing due to lightning and inability to have audited attendance count) certainly shows the pitfalls of such a rule........even a program that is drawing very well this year (UAB) got screwed by a monsoon for their TV game the other night........what if they had ended up under the 15K as a result....would that have been fair?
Guess that's why I like more of a average attendance approach or the requirement to hit the 15K most years, not all, without penalty. That still instills the schools to market their programs and get fans to come out, but in most cases take the year-to-year pressure off of this requirement, and the negative stigma that would come with being put in a restricted category, even one year.
At Miami, we should be OK next year with our home schedule, but of course based on pre-game ticket sales and the expected student participation, we expected a sell-out or near sell-out to the Indiana State game and we got nuthn'!

If the NCAA sends you guys a double secret probation letter, I hope you sue them. I would hope all the nonbcs schools would kick in some money for the legal fees. Can you imagine going from a top 15 school one year to being kicked out in 3 years.

The team we need to fail the attendance requirements is Duke. I know Duke's announced crowds are 16plus, 16plus, 22plus. But if they used the same math skills Miami did they could be in trouble.
There is no way Duke will be classified 1-AA.
