As you guys all know, there is a logjam of .500 teams in the ACC, and how they finish may very well determine if the MAC squeezes out a 3rd bowl slot. So, who do 'ya root for (or against)....here's my schedule analysis:

Clemson (4-4):
Plays Miami of Fl this week so root for Miami to win (as much as that pains me personally), but then they play at Duke and SC, so they may very well get to 6-5 anyway.

G-Tech (4-3):
Plays NC State (4-4) this weekend and then has UConn, Virginia and at Georgia. So, a if they lose to NC State they are in trouble.

NC State (4-4):
Play 4-3 G-Tech, and then Florida State and then ECU. So, a win over G-Tech and they are certain to finish at least 6-5. Translation: Loser of NC State-G-Tech is hurting.

Maryland (4-4):
Play at 6-1 Virginia, then at VT and home against Wake. So, a tough schedule but if they upset either VA or V-Tech they are looking good. So, if you want less ACC teams bowl eligile root for VA and V-Tech to beat the Terps.

Wake Forest (4-4):
Play NC, then at Miami and at Maryland, so they have an uphill road.

UNC (4-4):
Play VT, then at WK and at Duke, so an easy "road to hoe" for the Tar Heels. With that in mind, I guess you root for UNC to lose to VT and choke at either Wake or Duke while WF loses to Miami and Maryland, thus both would be bowl ineligible.

So, it looks like at least 3 and quite possibly 4 of these squads will be bowl eligible with Miami of Florida, VA, V-Tech and FSU joining them as bowl eligible. The ACC will likely have one or two teams leftover for bowls then.

You root for Duke and whoever's playin' Carolina -- same as always.

As a secondary matter, Clemson can get beat 58-0 every week as far as I'm concerned. Otherwise, who cares? It's ACC football.
