Lots of comments about how UA's facilities are much better than other campuses... including Ole Miss, Virginia, and N. Carolina.

Kudos to JFB for his money-making and his vision.

Wide receiver tries to find place for Arkansas
BY OTIS KIRK -ARKANSAS DEMOCRAT-GAZETTE
FAYETTEVILLE -- Chattanooga (Tenn.) Notre Dame wide receiver Adarius Bowman attended the Arkansas Seniors Camp and may be moving the Razorbacks up on his list of potential schools.

"My top five is North Carolina, Georgia, Ole Miss, Clemson and Tennessee," Bowman said Friday night. "I'm trying to find out where Arkansas is on my list.

"Right now, it's looking real good for Arkansas. The campus is really pretty, and my coach was telling me the coaches here were real cool. Right now, it's looking like a plus."

Bowman, 6-3, 205, 4.49 seconds in the 40-yard dash, has offers from all his favorites and was hoping to use the camp at Arkansas to improve.

"I just hope to do good on all the testing," Bowman said. "I want to see the other great athletes around."

Bowman also has camped at Mississippi this summer but said Arkansas' facilities were much better than the Rebels' facilities.

FREEBY LIKES WHAT HE SEES Fort Worth Christian punter Cody Freeby, 6-3, 220, averaged 42.5 yards a punt as a junior and hopes that, coupled with his performance at the Seniors Camp, will result in a scholarship offer from the Razorbacks.

"I like the way things look right now," Freeby said. "After coming to this camp, hopefully I'll know I like it enough to come here. I really like [Arkansas assistant] Coach Chris Vaughn."

Freeby, like the majority of the other campers at Arkansas, was impressed with the facilities.

"Arkansas' facilities are right up [there with] or better than most schools," Freeby said. "I like Arkansas, but I also like Texas, LSU and [Oklahoma]. I'm looking for a strong academic school."

MEADORS TAKES NOTE Pembroke (N.C.) fullback Jarrett Meadors, 5-10, 220, 4.45, pulled a groin muscle recently at a camp at Virginia and was unable to run at the Arkansas Seniors Camp.

Meadors has relatives in Springdale and Van Buren and has the Razorbacks high on his list of potential schools.

"I came earlier today and they showed me all the facilities," Meadors said. "I got to see the new academic center, weight room, and it's all pretty nice. Arkansas' facilities are much better because Virginia and [North] Carolina have an older, smaller look while this is big and new."

If Meadors signs with Arkansas, he expects the ticket demand to go up in the area with so many family members living so close to Fayetteville.

"My dad and I were talking," Meadors said. "We figured if I did come here, through my dad and family there would probably be about a 1,000 people here a game that would actually know me. That would be cool."

Meadors expects to make a college decision around the second or third week of the football season.

INGRAM FEELS WELCOME Tenaha (Texas) linebacker Darius Ingram, 6-2, 220, 4.7, is one of the top prospects attending this year's camp.

Ingram has camped at Oklahoma and Texas A&M. He was offered by the Sooners and has several other offers as well, including one from Arkansas assistant Bobby Allen.

"I like Arkansas," Ingram said. "Everybody around has told me so much about them. I like the tradition and facilities. Arkansas is in my top two right now."

Ingram places the Sooners and Razorbacks at the top of his list. Ingram said both meet the majority of the things he's looking for in a college.

"I want to go where I can get a good education," Ingram said. "I want to go to a nice school where I can get along with the other players and feel welcome. I'm looking for a home away from home."

Ingram can play any of the linebacker positions on the field but said the majority of the schools are recruiting him to play inside.

"I like inside linebacker, but it doesn't matter where I play," Ingram said. "I think Arkansas is recruiting me to play inside linebacker. I like Coach Allen and the atmosphere at Arkansas. They make you really feel welcome here."

THE RIGHT MIX One of the more interesting prospects at Arkansas this weekend was Athens (Texas) quarterback Jesse Blair, 6-3, 226, 4.7.

"I love it up here," Blair said. "This is a beautiful campus. I have a couple of friends going to school here. One is Seth Murphy, who is on the golf team. It's absolutely beautiful, and they play in the SEC, one of the best conferences in the nation."

Blair has been to six camps this summer, but he said the one at Arkansas may be the best.

"I love it," Blair said. "Arkansas' offense gives you a chance to run the ball and throw it, unlike other schools where you just throw predominantly."

Blair is also interested in Purdue, TCU, SMU and Texas A&M.

HARRIS KNOWS UA Richardson (Texas) Pearce defensive back Andrew Harris, 6-3, 171, 4.5, was very familiar with Arkansas' tradition before attending the camp.

Harris is the son of former Ouachita Baptist and Dallas Cowboys great Cliff Harris and the nephew of Tommy Harris, a former defensive back for the Razorbacks.

"It's a great campus and really nice," Harris said. "They've put a lot of money into the facilities and they're nice. The coaches at Arkansas are really nice."

Harris also attended camp at Ouachita Baptist earlier this summer.

HOGS TOP ROBY'S LIST Celina (Texas) wide receiver Ross Roby, 6-11
