Seems like Ken Hamlin really entered Nutt's doghouse. Nutt's moved Moseley to his position.

Nutt awaits court decisions on troubled Hogs, Mosley moves to safety
BY NATE ALLEN -Northwest Arkansas Times

On the 2002 playing status of Razorback running back Cedric Cobbs and free safety Kenny Hamlin, coach Houston Nutt says the same thing: "We'll wait and see what the court says."

In the meantime, one day back from vacation, Nutt is preparing Osceola junior cornerback Bo Mosley to be a free safety when preseason drills officially begin Aug. 15

Starting fourth-year junior free safety Hamlin awaits an Aug. 7 trial in Fayetteville on charges earlier this summer of driving while intoxicated, driving without a valid license, driving without a license plate on his vehicle and driving without proof of insurance.

Cobbs last week in North Little Rock was found guilty on charges last winter of driving while intoxicated (marijuana), possession of marijuana and speeding.

Never in previous trouble with the law, Cobbs awaits sentencing Aug. 6, but his attorneys have said they may lodge an appeal of last week's verdict.

Cobbs has been under strict supervision from Nutt and the staff since he was charged last winter and has been doing what's required from a team discipline standpoint, Nutt said

"We've been dealing with that since January," Nutt said.

Hamlin faces his second DWI charge having pleaded guilty to that charge in the spring of 2001.

Since Cobbs didn't close spring drills as a starter, and the Razorbacks are so deep in running backs, there's no move to switch personnel to tailback should Cobbs have to miss any games this season.

It's a different matter with Hamlin, All-SEC last season and the lone member of the secondary who closed spring drills as an unquestioned starter without 1 and 1A type competition.

The possible replacements should Hamlin miss games all either play cornerback or rover (strong safety.)

"They've tossed around about five names from Eddie Jackson, to Batman, Jimarr Gallon, Lerinezo Robinson and Bo Mosley," Nutt said.

"We really had it narrowed down to Lerniezo Robinson or Bo Mosley. Jimmy Beasley was also talked about, but I hate taking away reps from a guy who has just been made a starter at rover. The most logical is to move Bo Mosley."

Mosley played so well at cornerback last spring while first-team corners Eddie Jackson, Carroll and Lawrence Richardson ran track that defensive coordinator Dave Wommack had moved him after spring drills to rover and nickel back just to get him on the field.

"He's gained 10 pounds and he's gained some confidence," Nutt said. "He really came on in the spring at corner. He's been a nickel back before and he's played some safety. After visiting with Dave Wommack and visiting the staff, that's kind of the direction we're leaning. And what's good is with (incoming freshmen) Desmond Sims and Vickiel Vaughn you've got some candidates. You just don't know how mature they are going to be. The sad thing is how much experience you would give up."

Nutt and Wommack seem convinced they'll move senior starting defensive Raymond House to starting tackle and pair him inside with senior nose guard Jermaine Brooks.

"We're not 100 percent but we are leaning towards moving him inside," Nutt said, "If you had told me Shane Collins was going to be ready, I'd say move House to tackle. No doubt."

Collins, the middle linebacker from Mountain Home, suffered a major knee three games into the 2002 season and had major surgery. He had major surgery again after injuring it in rehab.

However, Collins apparently is rehabbing well this second time around.

"You couldn't count on him being ready for the first game," Nutt said. "But I don't count him out for the season."

A healthy Collins could free a linebacker like Jeb Huckeba or Gavin Walls for defensive end.

"Right now you've got Elliott Harris and Justin Scott out there," Nutt said. "I'd love to keep Raymond House and Jermaine Brooks down there in the middle. We've got Arrion Dixon at the other end. One we're forgetting about is Keith Turner. He could solidify House and Brooks on the inside."

Turner, a junior, missed last season for academic reasons.

"He's got a lot of ability," Nutt said. "He can run. And he's been doing well in his classes
