Has a team ever been ranked as low as Pitt in a BCS bowl game that if they lose they are likely to drop from the rankings all together?

This BCS business is just wrong man!

Shouldn't we be seeing the nations 8 best teams face off?

Not a Top 25 afterthought like Pitt.

Pitt would be barely scratching the surface of the top 25 if they were not going to a BCS game. When Pitt beat West Virginia and appeared like they could be going to a BCS game they jumped up a ton of spots. The only reason Pitt is even ranked is because of the BCS, and it’s a bunch of crap.

Walt Harris to the PAC-10 the same season he leads Pitt to a BCS game.

Does the Big East champ deserve an automatic BCS bid?

Maybe not. And it looks like Harris knows it.

I could see Amstutz being on the radar of a tradition rich power like Pitt. What about Greg Brandon? Or Pruett, I'm sure they know about him in Pittsburg.

Amstutz and Pruett would not go to Pitt, Brandon if offered would be gone on the next flight.

Pitt was 26th in the polls the week before they beat West Virginia, coming off a win over Notre Dame.

Stanford went to the Rose Bowl unranked. Purdue went to the Rose Bowl unranked, and Florida State went to the Sugar with four losses and ranked 19th.

Don't be surprised if Dave Wanstedt doesn't surface at Pitt.
