Solich did use the words "balanced offense" today.
That probably means 50% run right, 50% run left.

Solich will be a big boost to recruiting for Ohio. The National publicity for the school will be worth every penny. Recruits will flock to Athens to play for a top 20 coach. He was head coach in a National Championship game. That gets recruits attention. The MAC is growing. Recruits no longer blow off the MAC. They know they can get to the NFL by playing for a MAC school, instead to sitting on the bench behind a couple of other"blue chips" for two or three years. Why would kid at Ohio State want to sit for two years when he could start at a MAC school. Imagine if the current starter holds the Ohio State qb job for two more years. The second string blue chip at qb will never sniff the NFL. If he transfers to another school say a few miles down route 33, he'll become big man on campus the next two years and go top ten in the NFL draft and collect millions. Where would Big Ben be now if he went to Ohio State and sat behind Krenzel for two years without a chance. Solich needs to land these "blue chips" that rest of the MAC have been getting.

 You dont get the top skilled players by running the option offense. That has been proven. To get the skill players you must run a wide open off. especially at a smaller school or conf.

First of all, Solich doesn't run the option. Everyone keeps thinking he does, but he doesn't. He ran a power I formation running attack at Nebraska, with some option plays as a secondary attack. The option play beats your with trickery. The Osborne/Solich Nebraska attack just physically beat the ball down your throat. Add to that the fact that Solich spent the last year learning the USC, Oklahoma, Wisconsin, and Indianapolis Colts offenses, and I highly doubt you'll see a return to the Grobe-era, 5 pass attempts per game, offense.
Secondly, even if we did retrun to the option, it seems to me that that offense attracts talented running backs...last I checked running backs were skilled position players. The option is never going to attract NFL-caliber quarterbacks or wide outs, but it doesn't need them to be successful.
