I caught part of Jim Rome today- something I hate to admit publicly, but I was not in control of the radio at the time.

In discussing Nebraska's current woes, one of his e-mailers wrote in to suggest that the Cornhuskers change their name to Central Nebraska State and move to the MAC West.

Rome responded that Nebraska would not win the MAC this year. He said wasn't dissing NU, he was just telling it like it is.

He also praised the bowl game between Louisville and Boise State as one of the few meaningful bowls this year.

Sounds like Rome is not a fan of the BCS. Since he irritates me so much, I haven't listened enough to know whether he has discussed BCS bowls vs. play-offs.

I listen to Rome sometimes. Occasionally he's entertaining, but he invariably
does something that gets on my nerves. If he doesn't, the callers with their
high speed rants do. And, Rome's 30 second pauses between sentences
drive me nuts. Does he do that just to kill time?

That said, I'm glad he gave the MAC some props. Every little bit helps.

I saw Rome in a bar in Chicago many years ago(7 maybe) it appeared he was on a date, his TV show was on in the bar(FSN?). The whole time he was there he kept watching his show, pointing to the TV, and getting no response from his date. She was completely unimpressed and he appeared to be very full of himself....

Rome was on the money about the Louisville-Boise State game.
I don't think anybody can shutdown UL's offense. The Cardinal's may be even better next year.

I think he's ripped out of his skull when he does the show daily.

There used to be this DJ I listened to that worked that way, as well. It caused him to play stuff like "New World Order" at 8 am on Sunday mornings, or Ike "*******" Reilly when an attorney friend was forced to work late. A real sadistic bastard when he was wasted.

Rome is entertaining at times but his takes generally are wrong or overblown. Like most sports talk hosts, he takes hits on athletes and teams just to get ratings rather than learning what really happened. Plus his callers are terrible. I can't stand more than 1/2 hr of his show.

I think the over/under on the game is 82!

I might still take the over.
