Not breaking any new ground, but these tight races are amazing.

If Kent beats Akron and Ohio beats Marshall, there will be a 4 way tie for second place in the MAC East at 10-6.

In the west, the 4 top teams are within one game of each other. 04-drinky

Now for the challenging part- Buffalo, Central, and NIU have all played 16 conference games. Everybody else has played 15 conference games. How can an odd number of teams have an extra game? 03-banghead

Because we have 13 teams--each round of games has one team sit out. All teams get to 18 games by next Saturday.

Kling:

I think it adds up:

3 teams x 16 appearances = 48 / 2 = 24 games. Add 10 teams x 15 games /2 = 75 games.

I count 99 conference games played with 18 more to go.

that comes out to 117 games x 2 = 234 appearances which is equal 234 / 13 = 18 (games per school).

The Marshall game will be tough for Ohio. This is the last rivalry game between Ohio and Marshall. Records don't mean much when these teams get together. I would not be surprised to see Marshall win tonite. Disapointed yes sursprised no. Ohio badly needs this game to avoid the 9th seed. Kent State also has a must win game tonite. A loss tonite would really kill any post season chance for Kent State. They would be looking at a 9th place finish and would not have enough wins to merit even NIT as several other Mac teams would be in better position after today. Akron can really put themselves in great shape with a road win tonite. They can nail down a solid seed in the tourneyment with a win tonite. A loss for Akron would put the back into a middle seed. Toledo and Western need to win tonite to have any shot at a top 5 seed.
