Just saw on the local news that Ken Hamlin and Cedric Cobbs will not be suspended for any games. Nutt believes that they are rehabilitated and not have any more troubles. Most others will look at this as Houston being easy on the rulebreakers, as usual.

Nutt said on KHOG though that Hamlin will not play against Boise State, and probably not against South Florida either. Bo Moseley has moved to the starting positions.

Heres the report from KHBS/KHOG's website that says both Hamlin and Cobbs will not face suspension:

Cobbs, Hamlin Elude Suspensions
Cobbs To Drop Court Appeal
POSTED: 2:05 p.m. CDT August 14, 2002
UPDATED: 9:14 p.m. CDT August 14, 2002
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Two high-profile Arkansas players who had run-ins with the law will not be suspended, Razorbacks coach Houston Nutt said Wednesday.

Cobbs, Hamlin Elude Suspensions

Nutt said defensive back Kenny Hamlin and running back Cedric Cobbs will play ball this year. Cobbs was found guilty of drug and traffic charges in July and was fined $700, ordered to do 20 hours of community service and given six months' probation. Hamlin pleaded guilty to a second-offense of driving while intoxicated and was fined and given a 10-day jail sentence that he can fulfill through a work-release program. Nutt said Cobbs will also drop his appeal of the verdict. The Razorbacks coach said he initially wanted to kick Hamlin off the team, but that his gut told him to keep him on. Nutt said Cobbs has met the 15 conditions he set in order for the running back to continue playing for the Razorbacks.

I'm aware of em...just reporting what Nutt actually said on KHOG. Pete Gilbert first reported at 6 that Hamlin was suspended indefinitely. He changed his story at 10.

KHOG better pick up their sports coverage I think.

Pete Gilbert started out the sports segment at six by saying that Hamlin was suspended indefinitely, then went to Nutt saying that the suspension was no longer in effect. He then started the segment at ten with the news of Matt Jones to be splitting time between WR and QB because of his sore arm.

Now that Bo Mattingly is gone from KHOG, I think they have the best sports in the market. Thats not saying much, but it is better than KFSM and KPOM.

They all are bad in my opinion.

KFSM has a good website that keeps up with sports stories well, but their entire newscast needs an overhaul. KPOM needs a stronger support group under Mike Nail..and their whole news stinks except for him. KHOG is good with news...weaker in sports. Gilbert stumbles and Aaron Peters is just not that professional. As for Eddie T, well, he really can't do anything, including keeping his job.

Wish we can get some more professionals on the air.
