He didn't even make the all-metro Toledo first team.

What are you talking about?

Or is that just some vanity that schools give themselves?
It would would seem to dilute the meaning of "championship rings" if you got one for just winning a conference title. Look how many players around the country are on conference championship teams in all the sports. It would be kind of ridiculous.
MAC teams don't win National Championships. Hell, as we saw this year, even being undefeated doesn't give you a sniff at the Championship game even.

Thus, a MAC Championship is something to be proud of for a MAC school, and if they do give rings, that means more than anything else to a MAC team.

Bowl games give out rings too. Northern Illinois just recently received their rings for being Silicon Valley Bowl Champs and I hear they are quite nice.

Spring practice continues in Oxford! How insightful!
Thanks for sharing big guy, maybe with all that spring practice the Redskins will finish better than 2nd place this time around?
Prodesse quam conspici.

(That's Latin for "it's easy to be a blowhard during spring practice.")

We'll see what happens this fall, but I like Miami's chances for a third-straight MACC appearance and bowl bid.

Serious question, still unanswered: do the bowls or the conference give out rings or do the schools merely buy them for themselves?

I believe the school's buy the rings for the players themselves as they are allowed gifts up to a certain point at the end of the season out of the revenue that came in from bowl games and conference championship games........although I have to say I am not certain, I am about 90% certain that it does come from the school.

Back to the original Topic:

If Omar beats Wisconsin, I'll start comparing him to Daunte. Omar is big like Daunte and runs like Daunte.

Big Ben runs like a clock.

lol Big Ben ran pretty well in the NFL last year.

Considering Jacobs has only been a starter for one year....rather silly to compare him to Gradkowski. But considering his stats as a sophomore...I"d say Jacobs has much more potential to succeed than Gradkowski. (who, despite what ROcket fans think, will be lucky to go in the first 3 rounds of the draft next year)

Dan Marino comes to mind...
Omar can have all the stats and TD to interception ratio all he wants, Bruce will take the MAC titles.

When Omar wins the MAC we can begin the discussion on who the better QB is, until then Omar can shine Bruce's MACC ring.
So in other words, the conversation will start in December when we beat you guys in Detroit? That is of course assuming NIU doesn't throw a wrench in your plans and wins the West. 03-wink
