I'm arrogant, but then I go to Miami so it's to be expected. Victory Engineer, your post makes a ton of sense. But, you also have to look at it from the flip side. Miami has a storied athletic department all around. We have, in many sports, more championships than any other school, and that gets us doody. Except last year, we got the Indy Bowl. It is kind of a slap that Temple is saying, we want to play you guys.... but not in everything because we are better. We only wanna play you in our crap sports. Not our good sports. That is kinda two faced, but eh, what can anyone of us do? Nothing.

Untill you understsand how conf look to the future to incress rev & protect itself from another shift in realingement you won't get it. Now 2 things are going to happen, Temple ends up full member of MAC or Temple FB stablize, maybe ends up in B-E & leaves core group of Mac schools alone. Now if Temple drops FB, can any body say for sure that B-E approaches Toledo as 12 memder & wants Motor city bowl for B-E - B-10 matchup. Whether you care, don't think it's you promplem, or don't like him Temple has HOF BB coach who is in 70's has very limited foresight, comfortable in A-10 & temple wants to wait him out. Mac Pres understood & tought was important to get Temple foot in the door. Ask this ? twice, never got answer, If B-E takes 4 C-USA schools, leaves 7 in south, Marshall is on island, name 6 schools they look at for No div. 6 Mac schools will go & take all TV money & MCB with them. Then Kit -Kat can have his 8-9 school conf. maybe none of this happens, But Mac is preparing itself just in case.

As has been stated ad nauseum, we understand the issue from Temple's perspective, and acknowledge that you got a sweet deal from the MAC. The disconnect for many of us comes from looking at it from our perspective, and the fact that many (not even close to all) Temple fans (and even some of our own) seem incapable of that.

To put it as simply as possible, many of us wonder how we got the deal we got when we were the ones holding all of the cards. Maybe there is a reason for it, although no one has offered even a shred of evidence that we got anything out of the deal except unbalanced divisions and a "definite maybe" on basketball scheduling. One that your administration is now hinting is a lot more maybe than definite.

Big surprise there.

I thought the vote to admit Temple was 11-1.... wonder who the dissenting university was? Seriously I do! Was it Miami? Was it Toledo? Whom was it!

Oh, and we do understand. We just feel gypped.(I spelled gypped correctly that time!)

Where did you get that vote count from?

I don't think any of us really know what the vote was, but I heard that Miami didn't even get the chance to vote. From what I heard Chryst went around and got enough yes votes to have the authority to invite Temple without calling on some of the schools like Miami and Toledo.

Again though, none of us probably really know how the vote actually went.

I assumed it had to have gome that way if they had voted, it was either unanimous, or 11-1 because if two schools vote against, then it doesn't go through. At least that's how I thought it worked....

Exactly what I've heard, and what I've heard from connected folks at other schools.

I forget, what kind of contract was signed for Temple? 5 years in the MAC? I think that is right. The MAC has some control too. In 5 years, if they don't see Temple coming all sports, they can cut ties. Am I correct?

Are the rest of us supposed to just sit back and agree that this is the best deal in the world so that we don't hurt the feelings of a couple posters? no. They give their opinion and I'll give mine, thanks for stopping by. And YES they ARE supposed to give it up to play a home and home with NIU, the arrogance is thinking that they should not. It's the cost that they have to pay.
If they fly commercial, its going to be cheap. No MAC school is more than two hours by bus from a Southwest Airlines destination.

Who cares? If the bottom MAC teams can clean Temple's clock in the next few years, they will drop football (or go 1-AA) and stick with the A-10 in hoops.

You do not know Temple! The bottom of the MAC will not clean our clocks. We will surprise many in the MAC. You are only fooling yourselves.

So the fact that Temple might beat Buffalo makes them a good addition?

Temple is returning a lot of players, so the potential to field a better team this season is there. Then again, some Temple fans on this site have posted that they expect poor coaching to hold the team back. We'll get a better indication of where the Owls currently stand when they play WMU on September 24.

I think a lot will depend on how well Temple recruits after this season - it's first recruiting season in a while without the "what conference?" cloud hanging over their head - will tell the tale.

But to assume that they will only be capable of beating Buffalo by the time they become full members is a dangerous position to take.
