Last year however the Gobblers beat the Cocks off...an 11th inning homer thus earning them the nick name- C0CK GOBBLERS

Don't make things up--CSULB a/k/a Long Beach State are the 49ers.

One thing that hasn't been said in this thread is that McDavis' comments re Temple probably reflect the thinking of the MAC Administration and Council of Presidents...there is some genuine hope/belief that Temple will bring the rest of their athletics, including basketball, into the MAC at some point in the future. This is in line with rumors that have been put forth that Temple would wait until Chaney retires, or is forced to retire, to make the move in basketball.

The fact that Temple is starting to play a more full MAC football schedule now , but will not play any MAC team in Basketball this season is further evidance that the heavy hand of Coach Chaney called this shot. IMHO you are right on, and Chaney is being allowed a final season to bow out gracefully. What a jerk.

Correct.

However, if my memory is correct, the baseball team has used the nickname Dirtbags for some time, much to the chagrin of the school's administration.

If at some point during the next five years or so Temple were to join the MAC in BB, and or all sports, than WKU would be the perfect fit as the 14th member, giving the MAC an over all very strong BB conference. Question: Why arn't any MAC BB programs scheduling WKU now?

From my understanding with WKU, some of the MAC schools brought up academics. So, it might be that the Hilltoppers won't schedule MAC schools.

Sounds like Temple would make the move after some sucess in the MAC in football. The MAC needs to welcome Temple fans and alumni to MAC stadiums. Once they see the beauty of the MAC they will see what millions on MAC alumni saw.

Temple may request we bring in another eastern basketball program like UMASS.
