clip regarding Fleck:

[quote]Taking advantage of opportunities in the cut-throat business of the NFL (also sometimes known as also standing for Not For Long) is a must for rookies and first-year players trying to make an active roster. At 5-10, 191 pounds, wide receiver P.J. Fleck was considered a long shot to make the team in 2004. After watching practice and observing the first-year player take a pounding by the defense and still hang onto the ball catch after catch, it’s easy to understand why coaches kept him around last season on the practice squad before activating him for the season finale.

Is that the coach motivating him or he really might not make the team? I thought he was trying to be the number 3 not number 6 or 7?

You need to earn your spot on the team every day in the NFL.

Seeing how San Francisco shapes up to be one of the worst, if not the worst, teams in the NFL, you would think P.J. Fleck has an enhanced chance to make their roster versus other places. My guess is he makes the 49er roster and is decent contributor in 2005.

Knowing your history with predictions on here, I am sorry to hear you say that you think PJ will be a decent contributor in '05. Maybe that means he will actually become a super star unstead.

Unless you have a big bucks contract. The GM will not let the Coach cut one of those players until he has at least 2-3 years to prove himself. Most GMs do not have the stones to admitt they made a mistake.

Keep in mind that the NFL is full of parody, and every team is loaded with highly paid professionals. On any given day, any given team can beat any other. The difference in overall talent between #1 and #32 is not that great.

How else would you explain the Patriots last loss coming from the Dolphins?
