Every spring during AAU play some players just seem to raise their level of play and become impact players almost overnight. The story of this spring has been the emergence of 6'5 WF Malik Harriston of Detroit Renaissance.
Harriston has been nothing short of fantastic during the State 15 & Under, and 16 & under age group play while leading The Family AAU team to titles in both categories. Most high school basketball fans were already aware of the talents of Sophomores Drew Neitzel, Joe Crawford, & Ron Coleman, but Harriston was somewhat of an unknown outside of the Detroit area. All that has changed this spring.
Mailk has played his way into being talked about among the elite Sophomores in the state of Michigan, and his play has earned him an invitation to the Nike Hoop Jamboree, which is an event held for the top 100 Freshmen & Sophomores in the country. Not to mention the college coaches that have begun showing major intrest in the versatile all around talent. Michigan, Michigan State, Indiana, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Kentucky, Missouri, Marquette, Arkansas, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Iowa, Florida, and Pittsburgh are all on the list for Harriston.
