<a href="http://www.kentucky.com/mld/kentucky/sports/colleges/university_of_kentucky/3590867.htm" target="_blank">Kentucky Coach Tubby Smith has hired Hawaii assistant Scott Rigot</a> to fill the vacancy on his basketball staff, Hawaii Coach Riley Wallace said last night.

Wallace described Rigot (pronounced rih-SHZOW) as an excellent recruiter and a top-notch floor coach.

Two of the Rainbows' four NCAA Tournament appearances came in Rigot's three seasons at the school, the Hawaii coach said. Wallace also noted the Rainbows' cumulative 3.05 grade-point average last semester as evidence that Rigot recruited players who could do the job academically.

"It's a big (void) because if he's good enough for Kentucky, obviously he's good enough for us," Wallace said.
