[Image: Mississippi_St_OLD2.gif] vs. [Image: Oregon.gif]

August 31, 2002
Autzen Stadium
Eugene, OR

The Coaches
Miss. State - Jackie Sherrill, 12th season, 70-56-2 (.555)
Oregon - Mike Belotti, 8th season, 60-23 (.723)

The Series
First Meeting

Game Summary
Oregon loses Joey Harrington, so the offense shifts over to new QB Jason Fife. The Ducks will keep the same ground power though, as State could have fits with RB Onterrio Smith. The Ducks are used to the air attack, as most Pac-10 teams deliver, so for State to win, they have to rely on a ground attack and run the clock as much as possible. State needs to keep it low scoring. Fife is a new QB, but he has a trio of experienced WRs which he'll benefit from greatly.

Prediction
Oregon won't push State over. Don't be surprised even if Miss. State jumps out to a quick lead, or leads at halftime. This MSU team wants badly to forget last year's 3-8 fiasco. However, the game is in Oregon, and the Ducks simply have more talent. Onterrio Smith will have a big game, and the Oregon offense has too many weapons for Miss. State to handle. Give the win to Gang Green, but again, not a blowout.

Final - Oregon 23, Miss. State 16

I think we'll probably lose by about 14, but I think it is possible, though unlikely, that we can win the game.

This will definitely be a test for you guys. With this being so early in the season, Oregon may be a little shaky at QB.

If the DL hasn't improved much from last season, Onterrio Smith will run all over us. Mario Haggan is a great LB, but he can't stop Smith if the DL doesn't do its job.

MSU will be tough for Oregon and you guys will battle them. I hope that you guys do well against them and it would be nice for you to upset them.

Hey Joltin' Jacket, I like your prediction on the Oregon game. The Ducks will probably score at will in this one. Also, how come the countdown clock on this board is 3 hours slow. They must counting down to the end of the game. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="biggrin.gif" />

Eastern Standard Time + 3 Hours = Pacific Standard Time

It's accurate - just in a different time zone lol
