Catherine Johnson, wife of Vanderbilt football coach Bobby Johnson, spoke briefly with VandyMania after the Commodores' 49-18 win over Furman. For Bobby, it was his first win as Vanderbilt's head coach.

Q: What has it been like for Bobby this week? I'm sure he's been a little bit nervous and a little bit excited.

A: He's been very quiet, very focused and very intense.

Q: How much do you think this victory means to him, to get his first one tonight in this situation?

A: I don't think it could have been any bigger. It was huge! We've been worrying about this one since Bobby took the job, and I've been worried about it a lot.

Q: Does Bobby have a gameday ritual? Do you see him on gamedays before the game?

A: No, because he spends the night before with the team, even if it's a home game. He does try to call me if it's a night game like today. If it's a day game, he has no time, since there's back-to-back meetings. But I generally don't see him until after the game.
