The Vanderbilt men's golf team won the Mason Rudolph Championship yesterday, and Brandt Snedeker of the Commodores took the individual title.
Vanderbilt set a school record at the Legends Club of Tennessee in Franklin with a three-round team score of 29- under-par 811, 18 strokes better than second-place College of Charleston. Of the 12 rounds that counted for the Commodores, only one was over par.
''This just shows that we're ready to be a national power,'' said Snedeker, a senior who claimed his first college tourney title with a 12-under 198. He exceeded his previous best competitive three-round score at Vanderbilt by seven strokes.
Craig Dunlap (third place, 202), Mark Donnell (fourth, 203) and Lance Goodson (tied for seventh, 208) also excelled for the Commodores in the 11- team field.
