My only beef is with his hard on for the UNC Conspiracy and Peach Bowl Blacklisting of it all. Not to say UNC didn't try to hold us back back in the day but....

He did try to ban me when I called him on it.

OTM and I see eye to eye on pretty much nothing, but I have also never questioned his dedication to East Carolina. He may be a bit of a nut job, but at least he's no Derrek.

WOW..... Went back through my 2006 posts during that time.

Trip down memory lane / Nightmare on Elm Street.

As odd as it might seem, some of the undertones in this thread I think have fueled some things to be the way they are now when you look at csnbbs.com vs. ECU Rivals vs. BYB vs. HTC.

Most GT fans won't even say his name or acknowledge he exists. He absolutely ran the program into the ground.

I have another name for you, GTS: Reggie Ball. A lot of us UGa fans sure did like him. 03-cloud9 03-cloud9 03-cloud9 We also loved Chan Gailey. 01-ncaabbs

If you know why GT left the SEC, you'll know that opinion is about as popular as ECU to I-AA. That being said, we don't berate those who think that, be we do debate them.

And FWIW, ECU isn't a good fit in the ACC and never was. A big motivator for expansion was breaking the dominance of the T.R. mafia. Letting ECU in creates that problem all over again. Also, I'm not sure off the top of my head, but isn't ECU a Teir 3 according to USN&WR? If so, that's not high enough. The ACC has a ridiculously high academic standard. People often assume the ACC wants to be like the SEC. That's wrong. The ACC wants to be the Pac-10 on steroids (strong athletics at all levels AND academics).

I also don't think ECU to I-AA is a good move.... but I do recognize that ECU is out in the middle of nowhere in terms of conference allies. There is no true good fit for them in any I-A conference other than the ACC. The Big East would be "good enough" ... but if your closest rival is in Morgantown ...... it's hard to to generate interest every week. After the allure of a BCS conference wore off... tell me how excited you'd be to play UCONN .... or Rutgers .... or Syracuse .... or USF....

Viewed through the lens of history this is just hysterical to me seeing as how the 'Cuse is now in the ACC along with BC and Miami. And Rutgers ended up where? Hey, UConn is a lot closer than UTEP. Funny reading again the Mongo/Cap/OTM three way war after all these years.
