RE: 2026 MIDWeek 10 Prediction Thread
Bold is my chosen winner; Underline is who I believe will win the spread.
Ohio -12.5 vs Akron
*Ohio by odds-makers has then winning by Less than what Akron lost to Kent State over (15 pts; and KSU got beat by 21 by Sac State last weekend). Ohio's on the road, but it's not like @Akron's a hellish/challenging place or anything. That said, despite Ohio able to beat CMU by 17, Sac State by 41, and beat Jax State -- they also can play down-to-wire games they shouldn't, like beating @KSU 13-10 earlier this year (granted, some injury) and only beating EMU at home 24-20. But Akron's down and out losing all FBS games on their schedule. Look for Akron to have a quarter or so playing tough, but Ohio solidly getting a win.
Ohio 28, Akron 13
Buffalo vs Miami -6.5
*Buffalo can be a tough opponent sometimes, as they beat @Toledo, lost in a game they should at least have gone to OT with against WMU at home, and beat UMass & BGSU in their latest games by 1 TD, at home. Now they're on the road vs Miami who is tough but quite prone to have a very close game against a team they're supposed to be better than. @Cinci they had a very big lead, then fell apart 2nd half. They barely beat UConn at home after that by a FG, lost to BGSU by 4pts at home after that, beat @UMass by 1 at the end of that game and UMass going for 2 for the win, and last week barely beat @CMU by 1 point. They did beat Akron at home by 20 as their only clear solid game (besides their low-end FCS opponent). It's at home for Miami so they should pull out the win, but IMO, win by a FG or two... with Buffalo possibly throwing an upset but unlikely given it's Nov and every game means a lot if your opponent's not Kent or Akron.
Buffalo 21, Miami 24
Ball State vs UMass -3.5
*Ball State has is on the road but has something to 'show' for themselves coming off 2 wins. One against Sac State which was neither close nor big on BSU's side at home, and their 1pt win over @BGSU in OT. Ball State is beatable, and I don't know UMass's injury situation they've piled up this year, but since they're only favored by 3.5 at home against Ball State, and UMass was winless last year (thus not an assumed solid bench), I would take this as anyone's game and too tough to call. Ball State could win this and it being no shocker by any means... and UMass could win by 14 and it'd be no surprise either. Since it's at UMass, I'm going to lean on the side of that one.
Ball State 21, UMass 24
Toledo vs Sacramento State -25.5
*Toledo could beat a spread against Sac State, but Sac State had a Solid win against KSU at home last week, and they have Toledo coming into town that's far away. Sac State's offense has been not-working making their D indirectly look not-that bad, as last week they Whipped KSU 31-10. Toledo plays off-shoot and unpredictably, even within said games they play. Look for Toledo being a little high off their win against WMU last, and in their long travel make some mistakes with Sac State not expecting to do well their 1st year in FBS & the MAC anyway, thus more geared to continue on positively despite their notably poor record.
Toledo 41, Sacramento State 25
Central Michigan vs Eastern Michigan -1.5
*This is a tough game to call. Rivals who are playing not in the EMoo cavern but on a neutral field. EMU lost their last 2 games despite winning 3 before that (but said 3 is FCS, @UMass, and @Akron). However, EMU's losses were against Toledo, and @Ohio by only 4. CMU on the other hand has lost 3 in a row after their early-season stomp of Akron at home... with [only] beating Wyoming at home solidly as their only Win this year to look at. CMU is better than their record indicates, though. They came back against WMU at home in the 4th Q, and came close to them -- and lost to Miami at home, by 1 point. Now it's not at home, but sure, not the opposite either. Anything can happen in this game, but best to error on the side of EMU by default.
Central Michigan 23, Eastern Michigan 26
