I wonder how much you can really control certain fans' behavior.
I do think the technical fouls and penalties are a good way to stop this stuff (assuming it doesn't start getting done by the visiting teams' fans to get penalties!).

"...The Big 12 Conference has fined UCF $100,000 for fans' derogatory chants aimed at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at last weekend's football game against BYU.

The league also announced Wednesday that it has established a conference-wide policy with "escalating consequences for discriminatory conduct" that it says "has no place in the Big 12...."

Colorado State issued an apology in September after fans targeted BYU and the Mormon church with derogatory chants.

The Big 12 fined Oklahoma State $50,000 in February following inappropriate chants during a men's basketball game against BYU. A year ago, Colorado was issued a $50,000 fine for similar chants at a football game.

Similar incidents occurred at an Arizona men's basketball game during the 2024-25 season and a Cincinnati football game in November 2025. Neither school was fined...."

In the 80's and earlier this is a big nothing burger.

In the 80's and earlier, there aren't 1000 people (and tv cameras) videoing the whole thing and embarrassing the crap out of the school and Conference. It's just like the constant barrage of bad news we get these days. Bad things always happened, people died or were harmed in all kinds of terrible ways, but now you get to hear all about it and probably see video from 8 different angles.

Still remember after MTSU beat Vandy in 04 or 05 at Vandy the lovely students chanting "That's all right, That's ok, you're going to work for us someday"

Still get joy out of seeing Vandy lose to this day.

Maybe the officials should simply stop the game until the chants stop? I bet that would create enough peer pressure for whoever is chanting stupid stuff to stop. If not, escort the perpetrators out of the stadium and then ban them from returning.

So what the hell did they actually say? If the particular words can't be posted, at least give us a hint at the nature of the chant, or whatever, that caused such a reaction.

It's the same at almost every school where students chant something like "**** the Mormons."

Distasteful. But keep in mind it's drunk 20 year olds.

just like that 'black and blue' series with y'all on the gridiron when we owned yo' arse, on the hardwood, too many buzzer beaters on the losing side ... same applies to Crum and his Cards during that timeframe...

I really miss those days...

now that NIL is in the endgame, I have a sneaky suspicion our two schools will be conference mates once again ... geo-realignment is the inevitable outcome once it fully develops into P2...

I think we finally found the source of Kamala's word salad oration style.

Yes, this is actually the kind of thing that helps university administrators. It’s an expensive service in this case, but they needed backup.

In the long run this will pay off.

Exactly.

Amazing how some people want to just lump in all chants with ones that are specifically discriminatory (whether it’s religion in this case or other instances regarding race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or other protected classes). Not all obscenities or vulgarities are the same (hence why hate speech is treated differently than other types of speech).

Frankly, I have zero problem with people like this being doxxed. Free speech does not mean freedom from consequences. Identifying those people by name on YouTube and TikTok videos is how you really clean it up as no reputable employer will ever hire them after a basic background Internet search (getting easier all of the time with AI).

My big brother was known as Frank the Tank, may he rest in peace.

Memphis and Loserville was a huge rivarly in hoops. We HATED Denny Crum, but what a coach. He's rolling over in his grave at what college sports has become.

So do old Memphis fans.

It was among the best and most heated rivalries in college sports back then. Ask any Memphis fan who they hate the most, and it will be, for different reasons, a tossup between EwTay and Loserville.

It worked for Cincinnati 4 times in one season. 03-lmfao

Actually we didn't pile on Penny it was more Larry Finch and his inner city televangelist preacher suits.
