College Insider just released their Mid-Major Top 25 preseason poll. This is the closest to a real mid-major poll (coaches vote similar to the AP coaches poll and its been around for almost 30 years).

I'm a little surprised Troy wasn't in the poll. Not even a vote.

Troy's finished in the Top 25 the last 5 seasons.

I know we have a knew coach and lost a lot of players, but we replaced them with some solid transfers... many of whom were all-conference players from other mid-major conferences, on top of getting four legit P4 bench players that saw quite a bit of game action.

I'd argue that athletically and talent-wise, this Troy team has a chance to be better than any of the Scott Cross teams.

By my calculation we are 28-8 in the home game portion of this challenge (with 4 losses being by a single point). We’ve done well at home. I don’t look for us to all of a sudden go 5-7.

App State has never finished that low in Kerns' tenure. In fact, the lowest they've finished was #230, and we went to the NCAA tournament that year. On average, we've finished 100 spots higher than that.

We've also averaged 4th in the conference in Kerns' tenure. Not reading into these for a second.
