Well, That '60 Minutes’ Deportation Sob Story Sure Blew Up in a Hurry
Quote:60 Minutes on Sunday aired a segment on the deportation of Moussa Diawara, a 57-year-old man from Mali who had lived in the Houston area for more than 25 years.
During that time, Diawara married a U.S. citizen and raised two children while working as an Uber driver. The report had all the feels of the 'Maryland Man' framing.
60 Minutes even dragged his family in front of the camera for added effect.
Embedded tweet continues:
... eventually sent to Mali, a country a U.S. immigration judge ruled he could not be deported to. In a statement, the Department of Homeland Security told 60 Minutes that Ghana had provided the U.S. with “diplomatic assurances for his safety.” DHS also questioned the credibility of Diawara’s arguments for fearing persecution in Mali.
The report said Diawara entered the country on a tourist visa, later overstayed, and received a 2012 immigration judge’s ruling that granted him withholding of removal from Mali on the grounds that he would face persecution there.
And this is where the story gets blown up by General Counsel for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), James Percival.
ICE detained Diawara on July 11, the segment stated, and placed him on a charter flight to Ghana at the end of the month. Ghanaian authorities then sent him onward to Mali, according to the report and documents reviewed by the outlet. His persecution concerns, according to 60 Minutes, revolved around his conversion to Christianity, with Mali being a Muslim-majority nation.
Percival, however, states that he pulled Diawara's file and discovered that he had claimed not to want to be sent to Mali because he was "gay."
Wife. Two kids.
Percival notes that such a claim shows how riddled the immigration system is with fraud.
DHS has said Ghana provided diplomatic assurances for Diawara's safety, and 60 Minutes, well into their story, noted that the department questioned the credibility of his fear claim.
Going the route that Diawara allegedly did is not unheard of.
A 2026 BBC undercover investigation documented a network of UK legal advisers and firms charging thousands of pounds to coach migrants, particularly those from Pakistan and Bangladesh, to falsely claim they are gay in order to obtain asylum.
The advisers provided guidance on fabricating evidence such as staged photographs, support letters, and medical reports, prompting arrests and Home Office action against those involved in the scheme.
In the United States, sexual orientation is a recognized basis for asylum or withholding of removal. Federal authorities have prosecuted attorneys and preparers for coaching clients to fabricate persecution claims, including those based on LGBT status.
Well into the 60 Minutes report, they acknowledge that "the U.S. had a right to deport him, but not to Mali."
They didn't. They sent him to Ghana. Aside from the entire premise being false, the outlet did a bang-up job reporting here.
By ignoring the fraudulent core of his asylum file to run a sympathetic family package, 60 Minutes got completely caught spinning a false narrative that collapsed rather swiftly.

The hatchet job by one of the Dem’s media allies failed this time, but it is difficult to bat down the barrage of lies they launch.

Quote:? UPDATE: 60 Minutes CAUGHT RED-HANDED leaving this BRUTAL exchange out of the aired interview after DHS General Counsel James Percival dismantled their 3rd-country deportation narrative
They CUT THIS OUT!
PERCIVAL: "And then when they got to their home country, are you suggesting that they were persecuted or tortured?"
60 MINUTES: "Some have faced violence, but that's not what I'm alleging. No."
PERCIVAL: "So you're suggesting that Ghana is not accurately adjudicating whether they fear persecution or torture in their home country. If that were true, you would expect those people to return to their home country and then face persecution or torture... And if they're going to their home country and you're not hearing claims that they're being persecuted or tortured, then that suggests that Ghana's procedures are adequate...And it doesn't sound like you're making that claim."
60 MINUTES: "I'm not saying that I have cases that I'm going to show you where this is happening, mostly because, you know, this is all very recent."
No wonder CBS cut this out — the reporter flat-out admitted on camera that she didn't have a SINGLE case of anyone actually being tortured! ?
Thankfully they got their OWN TAPE of this very interview.
Every Republican must continue doing this. Always have the full tape on hand!

Wow, that's pretty damning. Not surprising, though. It's one of the biggest problems we have as a country.
A blatantly dishonest media.

True. Although I’d wager the % of American people who trust mainstream media, and who rely on mainstream media to tell them what’s going on, is much less today than it was 20, 40, or 60 years ago. And I’d also wager that % continues to shrink with the passage of time. Not an ideal solution, of course, but I’d much prefer that the public recognize the lies, rather than believe them.

Quote:What
@60Minutes
didn’t tell you about the “immigration attorney” featured in its deportation story:
She openly promotes socialism, wants ICE abolished, and has already condemned:
“President Trump’s racist mass deportation agenda.”
Meet Meredyth Yoon—the activist whose politics CBS left out.
Her bio: “prison and border abolitionist.”
Her own post: “Moreover, ICE must be destroyed.”
On the border wall: “We will tear down this wretched wall and bring our loved ones home from the other side!”
The Party for Socialism and Liberation’s Atlanta chapter advertised her as a speaker at its October 2025 People’s Congress.
And the money: her employer, Asian Americans Advancing Justice–Atlanta, received $150,000 from George Soros’s Foundation to Promote Open Society in 2021.

it's undeniable ... Fox the panderer of 'fair and balance' has become a see saw of the mighty $$$...
it's all about eyeballs ... hence, what WRH knew long ago once the media and print was under his reigns...
I could drive this down to religion if'n I wanted to...
