NM judge orders Meta to pay $25B in Cambridge Analytica case
New Mexico Attorney General Raúl Torrez: “Today’s judgement from a state, which admittedly is not very big in terms of population, should be a clear warning to everyone in Big Tech.”

Jurors found Meta liable for more than 43 million violations of New Mexico's consumer (privacy) protection laws when the British consulting firm Cambridge Analytica harvested data from Facebook users for political ads during the 2016 election.

Following an expected appeals process, Torrez said the payment from Meta will be put toward public education in the state.

Zero pity or sympathy for Meta. On the contrary, a bad day for Meta is a good day for almost everyone else.

But if Hillary! had won against Trump, this litigation never happens. This lawsuit and this judgment is just a part of the endless group-therapy certain people have needed since 9th November 2016. Some of them will probably need to continue with it for the rest of their life.
