RE: College Football Playoff
So 19 (At Large Bids) + 4 (P4 Champs) + 1 (G6 Highest Ranked Team)

I have heard the 24 teams may be the Top 24 teams in the nation based on rankings.

Will the selection committee ensure that only 1 G team makes it in, or if there are multiple G teams ranked will others get in.

Have also heard that P teams have a mandatory 10 P4 games a season to qualify.

Yep. I think that narrows it down to one most every year.

Why spend millions to move conferences for that crappy access ?

G6 will want to strategically position themselves to have the best most competitive teams, to have the highest quality opponents and wins, to ensure they are the top G6 team to get a playoff spot.

So for sure it should become less about markets and more about on the field product. The best strongest G6 teams should want to come together and form a nice size conference, that has enough mediocre teams that they are still guaranteed some wins.

The American and the Pac12 will definitely scratch to get the best teams available.

I'm sure they will, but at what cost.

I'm kind of over it.

But again, I'm a hoops-guy first.

Doesn't help that I'm a Titans season ticket holder. Football has been miserable for me lately.

But hey, my high school wins the state championship most every year.

Have a G6 playoff at this point, because bowl games are going to be absolutely worthless if they weren't already.

I think they're getting rid of the ESPN-owned ones, anyways.

Doesn't ESPN own most, if not all, of our tie-ins ?

From what I understand from an interview with the American commish, it wouldn't be a "playoff" in the normal sense of the word, but a reorganization of the Bowls so you can figure out the true rankings of the conferences.

Conference A = conference that sent team to CFP
Conference B = conference with 2nd highest ranked 1st place team
Conference C = conference with 3rd highest ranked 1st place team
Conference D = conference with 4th highest ranked 1st place team
Conference E = conference with 5th highest ranked 1st place team
Conference F = conference with 6th highest ranked 1st place team

Top team from conference A plays in CFP

Conference A 2nd Place team plays 1st Place Conference B
Conference C 1st Place team plays 1st Place Conference D
Conference E 1st Place team plays 1st Place Conference F

Would be similar with 2nd place, 3rd, etc. What I don't know is if the conferences playing each other will be consistent, based on rankings of 1st place teams; or if they will create best match ups for 2nd place, etc.

At least, that's one of the ideas.

RE: College Football Playoff
No matter how many teams are added to the playoffs, the G6 will never have more than one representative. The addition of the 12 spots will be taken by SEC and B1G middle of the pack schools. These additional spots have been created to satisfy those P4 schools spending millions on rosters that will never have a legitimate chance for a National Championship. They can go back to their big money boosters and tell them they made the playoffs so keep the money coming.

The polls can be manipulated just like they always have and any additional G6 schools can easily be kept from qualifying as a top 24 team. The system is rigged and the sooner G6 conferences realize that the better. We’ll never have a seat at the table with the big boys. They’ll always put us at the children’s table.

JMU is currently 7-0 and still not ranked because they didn't play a P4 team - because the P4 team they had scheduled canceled and no good P4 team wants to risk playing them.

This will happen to all the good G6 programs & will be the reason to keep them out of the Top 24, if they move to a 1 G6 plus 23 at large teams.

This is what I was saying about Jax State before we crapped away our first game this season.

Had we managed to beat NDSU and didn't blow our shot at beating Ohio, we'd be undefeated at 7-0, and we'd STILL be totally out of the running for CFP consideration, simply because of the lack of a P4 on our resume.

(Auburn postponed our game to 2029. NDSU was the replacement.)

Once we get a P4 back on the schedule next season, we'll have to beat them in order to get any CFP consideration. Otherwise, our one "quality loss" would be trumped by an 8-win SEC team's 4 quality losses.

Wow what an excellent summary of college sports by the CMU head coach.

I think for the most part college fans care less. Who really cares with NIL and paying players crazy amounts. We are just a farm league for P4 schools. If a player has a good year, they are gone to an SEC or B1G school the next year. Don’t blame players just the crooked game that has been set up. Craziness
