Rice was able to survive the first two sets but not the third. 24-26

So disappointing. On to the fourth.

24-26 And once again Genny makes substitutions at the critical point of the set and it backfires. WTH is she doing? That was much more Rice falling apart than Tulsa playing well.

We gave Tulsa that set. The final third of that set we could set, we couldn't pass, we couldn't receive, and a bunch of passive, wasted taps to the other team. Just hard to watch. Let's just hope they don't get all the momentum and do to us what we did to them at Tudor last year.

7-1 Peterson with 5 straight kills, but everyone off the block. Killer instinct now. Don't let them back into the set once again.

11-6 every time Genny has put Simmons in tonight, Tulsa goes on a run.

15-8 at media timeout. I just don't understand playing Simmons and Dorotik together. Neither can play defense. Seay has yet to make an appearance this set.

Will you get Dorotik out. She's the most inefficient OH I've ever seen.

18-11

Also in other news, FAU beat Tulane 3-2 so Tulsa is the only unbeaten team left in conference play…

25-16 for the win!

The most dominating 3-1 volleyball match I’ve ever seen where two of the games required 26+ points to win

24-16 Tulsa on 4-0 run with back-to-back aces

25-16 final

Huge win. Defense (7 blocks, 70 digs) and serving (7 aces vs. 5 errors) was the difference. I'm still scratching my head on why Genny chose to have Dorotik and Simmons play together in the front row almost the entire 4th set. Simmons hit 0.000 for the match, while Dorotik (who played almost the entire match (and had a season high 20 attacks) hit positively for a change, but only 0.050 (7 kills, 6 errors). Why are we playing that instead of Seay? Do tell?

Peterson: 19 kills (.231). 9 digs, 3 blocks
Guiterrez: 12 kills (.524), 5 digs, 2 blocks
Smith: 11 kills (.450), 7 blocks
Skopal: 43 assists, 2 aces, 17 digs
Hummel: 2 aces, 17 digs
Furoyama: 3 aces, 7 assists, 11 digs

Onward and upward. Need to take care of business at WSU and UNT before returning home for a killer trio of Tulsa, Tulane and USF.

Or why not put in Smith?

Nice to see Rice with three players with multiple aces!

Overall Rice had 7 aces on just 5 service errors.

Tulsa OFOH also had 7 aces but made 10 service errors.

Team hitting Owls .253 , Hurricane .173
