Aramco HQ hit by Houthis
Talk about a symbolic strike against the country.

Wonder if the Saudis are still glad they picked sides and entered the Yemeni civil war 11 or 12 years ago.

Doesn’t seem to be paying off very well for them.

Those darn long term consequences that people dont think about when their egos get the best of them and they don’t think rationally.

As long as one of those sides is Tehran’s proxy, then yes the Saudis will absolutely give support to the other side. Nothing the Houthis have done or ever could do will change that.

It’s a rough neighborhood. Kill or be killed is the usual order of the day. The Saudis and the Houthis have both known that for a long time. I’m just grateful that the ayatollahs and the IRGC have begun to feel that reality, too.

Your timing is way, way off.

Saudis created an enemy out of a strictly local political faction.

Saudis butted in someone else’s civil war and created an enemy that had zero interest in them.

Nonsense. The Houthis are doing Iran's bidding. Its the Iranians shiite vs. sunni holy war.

I am open to the possibility that the Saudis were meddling in Yemen before the Iranians. But it’s curious you say that this started “11 or 12 years ago” and we know Iran was supporting the Houthis in 2014, if not earlier.

But regardless of the exact chronology, no the Saudis are not going to leave Iran with a free hand in Yemen, and no the attack on Aramco does not change that.

The funniest part is the Saudis were hosting an international conference while the missiles were flying in. They were trying to give speeches while the air ride sirens were going off. They looked might uncomfortable in the video.

Those dudes’ burqas were bothered and their turbans were in a twist…

It was straight up Saudi Disarraybia lol.

"...The Houthi escalation is difficult to understand in isolation from the Iran war. Iran’s support for the group is well-known, but recent media reports have also revealed the extent of it. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps reportedly has directed Houthi movements along the coast and encouraged escalation against Saudi Arabia, with commitments to provide further support.

Control of Bab al-Mandeb is strategically important to Iran and its allies, as increased pressure there can provide more leverage in the Iran conflict.

For Saudi Arabia, involvement in the Yemen conflict is driven by direct security concerns and a desire to reduce threats to its territory and nearby maritime routes.

Against this backdrop, a Saudi response to the deadly airport attacks appears highly likely. Riyadh may be less inclined to limit itself to familiar exchanges along existing front lines and could instead target sites or capabilities of greater importance within the Houthis’ military structure. What form the response takes may reflect efforts to impose significant costs without immediately widening the confrontation into a broader regional war...."

Houthis may not want to poke that bear. On the list of companies that may get pissed, rent and air force, and start bombing you back Aramco is up there.

Just a reminder, folks: Islam is a militant political ideology hellbent on death and destruction masquerading as a "religion". And the IRGC that runs Iran are the biggest sponsor of terrorism, especially Islamic terrorism. Don't let anybody else say otherwise.

9/11 is proof of what the Saudis are capable of, so the Houthis should probably be careful.

We haven’t learned anything, but the Houthis may still have time.

I doubt the Houthi leadership can be bought off as easily as ours was/is.

This is why Ive said striking the Houthies in retaliation for Houthie strikes on Saudi refineries is useless. The Saudi's should immediately retailiate against Iranian refineries. Thats what the Iranians did to blunt US attacks on Iran----and I see no reason the exact same strategy wouldnt work against Iran. Right now, there is no down side to the Iranians when they encourage the Houthies to hit Saudi targets. The Saudis need to create a downside. It doesnt matter if the Iranians stike back---the Saudi refineries were already being hit. The difference would be the Iranians would be much less enthusiastic with the current proxy strategy if their own soft underbelly targets like refineries and power plants are being hit everytime the Houthies hit a Saudi refinery.
