IF we gave the game away, it was sending the KO after we took the lead on a TD late in the 4th quarter to the goal line.

Most of the time, no problem. However, if a kick gets returned and the field parts like the red sea, then a TD is a catastrophic event.

To me, the proper strategy is either or. Either do a pooch to around the 20 or 25 yard line and let the other team work from there OR kick it to one side or the other and play the odds on having a better chance to prevent a long return.

Kicking down the middle to say the 5 yard line or goal line is highest risk for a long return.

Just my opinion. Maybe those who have football expertise may disagree.

Losers nonetheless. 13 years of moral victories over here.

You can't totally blame the MAC as assume you volunteered to travel to Sacramento as UMass did.

Actually EMU hosted Sacramento State.

Just an online rumor, but I'd heard WMU lobbied to host Sac State in Week 0, but it ultimately went to EMU.

Well, UConn found the Southwick Jug. Southwick is the Mass town that has a notch into Connecticut. Winning of the UConn-UMass game gets the jug. There was a falling out with the Midnight Ride collective, when it was brought in house. The Midnight Ride found created the jug. The AD was not thrilled how it was done independently of the department. UConn had the Jug, but it was missing for the game, I presume.
X video of Coach Candle with the found Jug.
