Bangladesh joins the nuclear energy club
The reactors have been fueled and are set to be connected to the grid in November.
Bangladesh imports virtually all of its fuel, so they have been paying a heavy price in recent years. I’m sure their economic leaders are glad this day has arrived.
20 years ago their GDP was $86 billion. Today it’s over $510 billion.
GDP per capita was $600 in 2006. Now it’s over $3,000.
Once one of the poorest countries in the world, they are now head and shoulders above where they were just a few decades ago due their low cost manufacturing fueled exports. It’s a country that has very little going for it, but has a capable enough workforce and is working its way up the ladder.
