You're right. I checked their official website, and NDSU plays all 9 MW opponents. I cannot find another, so apparently they're the only one. Everybody else plays 8.

"Out of conference" means teams not in the MWC.

I think one of the NDSU vs MWC games counts as a non-conference game. It wouldn't be fair that everyone else played a tougher non-con schedule and NDSU plays a soft one and then if they go 6-3 in MWC that edges out a team that goes 5-3.

San Jose State might be that game, but it's not listed that way except on fbschedules. Also, SJSU already has four other o-o-c games, not five. The official NDSU website says they'll play 8 MWC games, without any such notation.

That kind of puts it in a definition limbo: SJSU and NDSU are both conference teams, no matter how the game is defined. It will still count as a game played, maybe just not counted for conference standings. Also, because of the 4-game SJSU o-o-c schedule without NDSU, it may count as an MWC game for SJSU but not NDSU.

I also asked lakesbison if the game was contracted before NDSU officially became a member. Breaking a contract would have meant both schools would need to find somebody else to have 12 games.

Regardless, I still left it off because it's not "out of conference." That means teams not in the MWC, no matter how the conference chooses to count them in the standings.

The NDSU/SJS game is a non-conference game.

Fixed, I think.
