2027 HS Recruiting
Marquette gets its first commitment for 2027 in 6’5” guard Marlon Martinez, a star in the recent FIBA AmeriCup games featuring national teams from Western Hemisphere countries. Also offered by Illinois, Ohio State, Rutgers among numerous others. Fathers was a star in Latin American circles. Has a 6’10” wingspan.

With that wingspan, I bet that Shaka can develop him into one heck of a defender.

Marquette picks up its 3rd commitment for ‘27 in 7’1” rising shot blocker from Christopher Columbus HS in Miami, FL. Originally from Sudan, he first started playing basketball in 2023. 24/7 Sports has him at #101 in its composit ranking. Interestingly, all 3 of MU’s commits are foreign born with Martinez from the Dominican Republic and 6’8” Philipe Ndong being from Spain originally.

Seems like the type of pickup that will either pay real dividends over time or he wont pan out and ends up as a deep reserve/depth piece. Singare for UConn was someone I was high on and he just never turned into a real player, he could barely get on the court for High Point last year. Hoping this is one where he develops and becomes a force for Marquette

RE: 2027 HS Recruiting
Sorry I haven't been on the board much. Most probably know of UConn's pickups but I'll list them here as well:
NaVorro Bowman Jr. 5* #12 ESPN 93 rating/ #11 24/7 98 rating
Jordan Page 5* #14 ESPN 93 rating/ #10 24/7 98 rating
Really high on both of these guys. Love the football pedigree of Bowman, his dad was a monster in the NFL and he plays with toughness. Page is insanely long, he's a really great finisher, looks money from midrange and should be a lockdown defender. Just isn't a great shooter from deep % wise, the stroke looks good though so who knows how well he will shoot it while here. He looks the part to slot into the Stephon Castle role, though he is not quite the same facilitator. Castle was a PG playing the 3 for us, but Page is a 2 who will probably play the 3 here.
