2027 SEC Schedule Proposed Dates
The SEC non conference schedule has many more adjustments to be made as stated in the non conference opponents post.

In my Big Ten schedule I didn't schedule any conference games before Week 4. Meanwhile I scheduled one Week 2 conference game and three Week 3 conference games.

This season the Big Ten has no Week 2 conference games but two Week 3 conference games. In 2027 however every Big Ten school has a non conference opponent already scheduled for Week 3 except USC so scheduling conference games for Week 3 is currently impossible. Over in the SEC there is one Week 2 conference game and four Week 3 conference games in 2026 so early SEC conference games aren't new.

Illinois-Missouri was unofficially scheduled for Week 3.
USC-Mississippi was unofficially scheduled as a non conference game.

Kentucky needs to drop one non conference game. They were scheduled for every week except Aug. 28. Their other non conference games (Louisville is the season closer) were previously scheduled for Sept. 4, 18, and 25 so they were required to get a conference game Sept. 11.

Missouri needs to drop one non conference game and either they can't drop Illinois or they drop Illinois and must find another Power team to replace it. They were again scheduled for every week except Aug. 28.

The only SEC team currently scheduled for Aug. 28 is LSU. It's certainly possible other schools will add games to Aug. 28 or move games there to give themselves a second bye during the season.

The following schools need a non conference opponent (not counting Mississippi who I proposed the USC matchup)

Alabama (Sept. 11/Oct. 9 are open)
Arkansas (Sept. 18/Nov. 6 are open)
Georgia (Sept. 4/Oct. 23/Nov. 6 are open) - Need 2 non conference opponents!
Texas A&M (Oct. 2/Oct. 30 are open)
Vanderbilt (Oct. 30/Nov. 13 are open)

Mississippi State has to either reschedule Chattanooga from Nov. 20 or find a new non conference opponent (Oct. 30/Nov. 13 are open)

It was just a coincidence that Mississippi State and Vanderbilt got the same two byes. It turns out they play each other Nov. 20. If that game gets moved, neither team would have a conference opponent that day without juggling other opponents so that game has to be there (unless the SEC waives that requirement for 2027 and can say the Chattanooga-Mississippi State game was already scheduled). Certainly it will be harder to find non conference opponents later in the season than earlier.

Texas A&M and Vanderbilt are scheduled for Nov. 6 and Georgia and Texas A&M are scheduled for Sept. 25 so if Georgia and Texas A&M can find non conference opponents Sept. 25 some juggling can be done there. Moving the game now would give A&M two byes in a row Sept. 25 and Oct. 2. I assume A&M will eventually find a non conference opponent somewhere. They were scheduled Sept. 18 vs. Florida. We know Florida will want their bye the week before Georgia so the Gators will need to be scheduled every other week unless they use Aug. 28 (since their non conference schedule is complete they won't be).

South Carolina and Vanderbilt are scheduled for Sept. 18 and both have Oct. 30 open. Moving that game would give Vanderbilt an early bye and a late bye as opposed to two late byes. The problem is moving the game to Oct. 30 would give South Carolina three consecutive road games.

This will be the first time in years Alabama and LSU don't play each other. Alabama-Mississippi State playing the first Saturday in November was just a coincidence, I scheduled the other marquee games first and Alabama-Mississippi State fit in between other marquee games that day.
