Largest win in D1 women’s history
LSU beat Texas Southern by 109 points. 131-22

The game included a 50-0 run by LSU (obviously). The game was actually 25-13 at the end of the first, before reaching 95-16 by the end of the 3rd.

6 of the 8 shots Texas Southern made in the game were 3 pointers. They only went to the line twice and missed both.

TSU’s leading scorer had 6 points, while 4 players had 6 or more turnovers. They averaged almost 1 turnover per minute (38 total). Only 3 Texas Southern players had more points than fouls.

Funny side note, part of the 50-0 second half run was a 40-0 3rd quarter.
Thats not even a D1 record for a quarter. That record is actually held by Texas Southern. They had a 44-0 quarter, but they were playing first year program College of Biblical Studies, not a fellow D1 member.

Not quite as bad, but the ND women's basketball team beat Stonehill 123-40 last night.

I really don't understand the P4 schools scheduling these football and basketball cup cakes. Wonder how many fans were in attendance at LSU/Texas Southern game? Probably very, very few. The embarrassed teams are the P4 teams. It's like a car hit and run....and then bragging how well the car runs.

I don't watch these crappy games. I don't know any P4 team that has already used NIL money to rob players from lower division teams has any pride and joy.

And please don't give me the usual run around why these games are scheduled. I have heard that a thousand times.

Over 9,500 was the listed attendance.

FWIW, I am not arguing your point at all. I just happened to have seen the attendance when I was looking at the stats.

It was a division 1 vs a division 1 game. The real question is why are these 2 schools in the same division?

Tulane beat them by 50+ a few days before. Is Tulane any good in women’s basketball? This is just not a serious D1 program.

No matter the score, Texas Southern will gladly sacrifice their team to take the paycheck. Texas Southern knows what they’re getting into. The players do too. They can look at previous years schedules and know they will be destroyed by others. Texas beat them 111-45 and West Virginia beat them 109-40 last year.

Women’s basketball has far fewer high level athletes than mbb, or perhaps it’s more correct to say that the gap between the top couple tiers and other tiers is more pronounced in wbb. Because nobody classifies as D1 bc of wbb prowess or lack thereof, it’s not all that surprising to see such huge disparities in talent.

LSU in particular is one of the top wbb programs. Their coach makes over $3m a year, which is about 25% of the entire Texas Southern athletics budget.
