NEW: Cracker Barrel CEO Julie Felss Masino is stepping down following the company's controversial rebrand last year that sparked fierce backlash from longtime customers.

The effort to modernize the chain included removing the iconic Uncle Herschel mascot and redesigning restaurants without many of the nostalgic decorations customers had come to expect.

Cracker Barrel eventually reversed course after the outrage and leaned back into its traditional identity.

The company says former Bloomin' Brands CEO David Deno, whose company owns Outback Steakhouse, will take over on August 10.

Outback Steakhouse hit the toilets 10 years ago did they not? Seems like a bad hire.

I like Cracker Barrel. Food I grew up on, except theirs has little taste, lol.

Outback and Cracker Barrel will both outlast me. Guaranteed!

I'd expect something like from Tom.

But Bill, now that gives me concern.

I hope you're around a little longer 3A.

I enjoy talking to older men such as yourself.

You serve as the grandfather that was never around when I was growing up.

It would take much more than my cheering to cause the demise of a man of your power, handsomeness, intellect and positive karma.

I'm 63. So 3A is like the older brother I never had and whom I look to for wisdom and sage advice.

Never mess with a beloved, iconic formula that WORKS! Change for the sake of change isn't the answer. Talk to loyal Coca-cola drinkers like me about making changes...

There is a fundamental personality trait that people have, which psychologists call "Open to New Experiences" versus "Closed to New Experiences." But what it really should be called is "prefers new experiences" versus "prefers familiar experiences."

Most artsy folks and marketing folks fall under "prefers new experiences," and they don't even recognize that the other type of people exists. So they think that everyone craves something new.

It's sad, but I think this misunderstanding is why a lot of beloved experiences get destroyed.
