Islamic Center Shooting - San Diego
Surprised there wasn’t a thread about this….

“Five people are dead including two gunmen who police said entered the Islamic Center of San Diego on Monday morning and opened fire.

Police swarmed the center after receiving calls of an active shooter and significant injuries, and found a crime scene that expanded across several blocks in the area.”

BREAKING: Suspects ages 17 and 19 die from self-inflicted gunshot wounds during San Diego mosque shooting: police

Quote:The suspects believed to be responsible for a shooting at the San Diego Islamic Center have been identified as two teens, ages 17 and 19. Three people were killed in the Monday afternoon shooting, including a security guard at the center.

Chief Scott Wahl of the San Diego police said in a press conference that the two male teens "appeared to have died from self-inflicted gunshot wounds. There were no officers involved in firing their weapons." He said the information was "still very preliminary" at that point.

Wahl said that officers received reports of an active shooter at the Islamic Center at around 11:43 am local time, and that within four minutes, officers arrived on scene "and observed, immediately, three deceased, what appeared to be deceased, victims out in front." An active shooter response was deployed. He said that officers, at around the same time, also received calls for shots fired a few blocks away from the mosque, where a landscaper was shot at but not hit.
"Moments later, at the 3800 block of Hatton, officers were called to that location where they found a vehicle in the middle of the street with who we believe to be the shooters in this incident, both deceased."

Two law enforcement officials briefed on the matter told the New York Times that investigators have recovered anti-Islamic writings from the vehicle the suspects were found in. One of the suspects reportedly took a firearm from his parents’ house before the shooting and left a suicide note. One of the firearms used in the attack reportedly had the words "hate speech" written on it.

Wahl said that a total of five people died in the shooting, two being the teen suspects and three being adult victims at the Islamic Center. He said that one of the deceased victims was a security guard at the center, who "I think played a pivotal role in assisting from this being much worse." Wahl said the shooting is being considered a hate crime "until it's not."

San Diego Mosque's Dark History Resurfaces After Teen Gunmen Kill Three

Quote:The San Diego mosque where two teenagers shot and killed three people Monday has a notorious past and has even been tied to several of the 9/11 attackers, according to multiple reports.

Amy Mek, founder of the RAIR Foundation USA (Rise Align Ignite Reclaim), posted to social media following the murderous spree, exposing the Islamic Center of San Diego’s disturbing history.

Her tweet continues:

I passionately denounce the violence that occurred today and do not support any violence against any innocent Americans or human beings anywhere.

That being said, she goes on to note that the ICSD has long been tied to radical Islamic terrorism:

I have long covered this mosque and am very familiar with its shocking, decades-long track record of terror ties (9/11 hijackers) and extremism.

?A 2005 investigation by the Center for Religious Freedom (Freedom House) identified the ICSD as one of only a handful of U.S. mosques found in possession of Saudi government-published “hate ideology” materials, extremist Wahhabi literature filled with calls for intolerance, hatred of non-Muslims, and jihad.

?A congressional inquiry into the 9/11 attacks revealed the FBI believed the San Diego mosque was responsible for laundering millions of dollars in cash from Saudi Arabia to the Al Barakat Trading Company and other businesses tied directly to Osama bin Laden and al-Qaeda.

Mek also reports on the ties between the Center and two 9/11 hijackers, a story the NY Post noted as well:

Previously, the Islamic Center of San Diego made headlines for its connection to Sept. 11, 2001, hijackers Nawaf al-Hazmi and Khalid al-Mihdhar.

Both hijackers reportedly prayed at the mosque and found an apartment nearby through advertisements at the mosque while taking flight lessons in the city.

Mek says that fellow worshippers helped the soon-to-be mass murderers obtain Social Security cards, driver’s licenses, and a place to stay.

The controversies don't all relate to the tragedy of 9/11, however — following the abhorrent Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas attack against Israel, the Center's director, Imam Taha Hassane, had this to say:

“This did not start last week or on October 7. This is the result of brutal Zionist occupation and genocide,” Hassane said in a video posted to social media days after the savage Hamas attack.

“Resistance is justified when people are under occupation and don’t let them change that narrative.”

“When people are occupied, then the resistance is justified. We cannot accuse somebody who is fighting for his life to be a terrorist. The terrorist is the one who started the occupation, not the one who is defending himself.”

The imam's wife has also appeared to cheer on extremism and bloodshed:

His wife, Lallia Allali, posted a graphic image of a Star of David decapitating babies with the caption “The devil is killing” - classic blood libel. She resigned from her teaching position at the University of San Diego and her advisory role at the San Diego Union-Tribune amid the outrage.

The motive of the two shooters, who both allegedly killed themselves following the attacks, is still unknown as of this writing. The controversial history of the Islamic Center is known, however, and it’s quite simply… troubling.

Good for Mek and others for continuing to shine a light on it.
