New Report Says the People Who Favor Political Violence Might Not Be Who You Think
Quote:Traditionally, Americans looked at college graduates with a hint of respect. It's still a big deal to be able to say that you are the first one in your family to be a college graduate. But as we are well aware, what you will need to work in your chosen field is not what is being taught the most in colleges and universities. In the wake of a third assassination attempt on President Donald Trump, a new report shows that the mindset being encouraged on the nation's campuses is darker and way more dangerous than we think.
A 2025 report from the Skeptic Research Center showed that those who hold graduate degrees are roughly twice as likely to think that “violence is often necessary to create social change.” A disturbing 40 percent of those who hold master's degrees say that political violence could be justified to bring about social change. Among those who hold a bachelor's degree, the number was around 26 percent who agreed with the above statement. For those who had completed some college or who hold an associate's degree, the number was roughly 20 percent, and for those who had a high school diploma or less, just 23 percent agreed with the statement.
The alleged suspect in Saturday night's shooting in Washington, D.C., at the White House Correspondents' Dinner, 31-year-old Cole Allen, graduated with a master's degree in computer science from California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH). So, on paper, he's a smart guy. However, in a rambling manifesto that used many of the words and phrases used by mainstream media, Allen wrote, “I am no longer willing to permit a pedophile, rapist, and traitor to coat my hands with his crimes.”
The report tends to blow up a possible narrative on the left of the educated versus the uneducated, but it also shows some other troublesome results. Nearly half of Gen Zers, at 49 percent, who say they are liberal, are okay with political violence, compared with Baby Boomers, many of whom came of age during the Vietnam War, at just 14 percent. America also seems to be churning out generations of males who say political violence is justified. Gen Z males came in at 48 percent, and Millennial males at 46 percent. It also speaks volumes about the violent anti-Israel pro-Hamas protests that broke out on several college and university campuses following the October 7, 2023, attack on Israel by Hamas. A 2022 survey of Harvard faculty, well before that attack, showed that 80 percent of respondents identified as "liberal" or "very liberal." Four years later, we can only guess what that ratio is now.
Is it safe to assume at this point that the longer you attend a college or university, the more chance you have that you will become indoctrinated into left-wing ideology and believe political violence is somehow justified? We already know the answer.

How much is indoctrination or are they all a bunch of privileged Karens and Kens? They think nothing can happen to them and they can do whatever they want.

I tend to agree. It's those that are a little loco to begin with, way before they get a grad degree.

Not surprising and also there is precedent for it in the past. Communist revolutions along fascist movements were all started by intellectuals. Lenin, Mussolini, Ho Chi Minh and I believe Castro were all intellectuals.

RE: New Report Says the People Who Favor Political Violence Might Not Be Who You Think
I’ve always known liberals were violent little nut jobs. I certainly don’t need a report to confirm what I have seen with my own two eyes since the 1970’s.
RE: New Report Says the People Who Favor Political Violence Might Not Be Who You Think
Liberals today are doing what liberals have always done.
In the 1970’s the parents and grandparents of the nut jobs in DC detonated an average of 5 bombs a day across the country. Between ‘71 and ‘72 the FBI recorded over 2500 bombings.
Violence is as much a part of the Left’s DNA as free stuff and socialism.
I don’t know why it’s so hard for today’s media to admit the Left has always been crazy. Anyone with curiosity, a couple of brain cells and a Google account can look it up.

New Report Says the People Who Favor Political Violence Might Not Be Who You Think
Along with the Weather Underground, the Symbionese Liberation Army, FALN, Black Liberation Army, and New World Liberation Front just to name a few of the nut jobs.

Bullet, I know you are being a bit facetious, but in the engineering world, a Master's degree is a game changer when it comes to management opportunities. I hold a BS Chemistry from my alma mater, served 13 years as a nuclear power officer in the Navy. During that period, I earned a Masters of Engineering Management from ODU to have an advanced degree match what I was actually doing in the marketplace. Not an academic by any measure, as my civilian career has been strictly in pulp and paper and building material manufacturing, working to improve their ability to produce on-spec product for the least cost. Not what I thought I would be doing as a 13-year old in rural Virginia, but has created a great lifestyle for the family for which I am so willingly responsible.
I claim no "academic superiority" for my advanced education, but its ability for me to aim high in my area of expertise has been profound. This is far and away from lesbian studies and other very useless areas of non-applicable degrees.
