UConn's Luke Murray to BC
Multiple outlets are reporting a deal is close. Does it actually happen?

It would be bittersweet for me. For one, coach Murray deserves a lot of credit for our success especially on the offensive side of the ball. He deserves a HC opportunity somewhere.

On the other, BC is probably the worst job in the ACC, and his chances of succeeding there are much lesser than they are at even a solid mid major (College of Charleston job is open and I think would be a better fit.) The program just isn't given the resources to compete In that conference.

I'm obviously hoping he stays but more because I want him to get a better opportunity elsewhere than I don't want to lose him.

RE: UConn losing Luke Murray to BC?
The bar is low at BC that if he goes .500 he'll be a rock star. Kind of like Neptune at Fordham. One year of .500 ball got him the Nova job.

Done deal. Thread title updated.

Big loss for UConn but I obviously wish him the best. I'm almost tempted to pull for BC a bit now, lol.

Two things he has going for him:

1. They can’t get any worse, so they have nowhere to go but up.
2. With low expectations, he’ll be given time to improve & build the program.

It's like Holtmann at DePaul. If he goes .500 or marginally better and wins even 7-8 games each year in conference he will have better teams lining up to bring him in.

To see just how far that program has fallen, consider that it hasn’t even qualified for its own conference tournament in the past 2 years and it hasn’t won a game in the ACC tournament in 15 years. Contrast that with the fact that 20 years ago, BC went to the finals of the ACC tournament where they lost the championship game to Duke by just 2 points after beating North Carolina in the tournament semi-finals in their first year in the ACC after leaving the Big East as regular season conference champions the year before.

I know nothing about his personal life, but I wonder if he has a reason to stay in the NE. That could also explain why he took the BC job. Quick train ride to Connecticut if he has family and friends there.

I've heard his wife played basketball at Quinnipiac, so he may have wanted to stay local for that reason.

Bobby said he wouldn't do so, I'm assuming it's not an option.

Some UConn fans have speculated Hurley knew either Murray or Young were going to get an offer if the team performed well this season which is why we brought in Nardi. I'm assuming Nardi gets promoted.

RE: UConn's Luke Murray to BC
why is Murray still on the bench for UConn? I'm surprised BC doesn't want him right away

He and Hurley have been good friends for a decade, and he's got a shot at another natty. Probably told them as a condition to going there, "I'm finishing the season out."

Luke must be having second thoughts right now. Does he really want to leave this behind?

Right now he’s in heaven. Going to BC is like being sent to purgatory. He’ll be paid better, but he’ll be paid to suffer. 03-banghead
