These are the Good Old Days: 2nd Best Season Ever?
Hi guys,

Congrats on your impressive bowl win!

Serious question for you: Outside of Fleck's Cotton Bowl year, is this the best year in WMU football history? From an outsider's perspective, I think it is. You won the MAC, and demolished a fellow conference champion in the bowl game.

Curious how you see it?

Easily. I'd even say this season has been more fun because every game didn't have the "don't screw it up" feeling going into it like 2016 did.

Agreed, AND we didn't have to deal with PJ's stuff, Taylor just keeps quiet and gets it done.

Absolutely.

One could argue this is even more impressive than the 2016 season given the amount of pure talent that team had. A win against a P4 opponent in a bowl game would have taken it to the #1 spot in my opinion.

I grew up in Kalamazoo and have been going to WMU football games since the 70's. The only other season that might come close would be 1988 when they beat my wife's alma mater Wisconsin in the opening game and went on to win the championship and go to the California Bowl, back when there were far fewer bowl games. That season was pretty special too in my lifetime, but yea this season is probably #2 with 1988 being #3.

This team was predicted for sixth in MAC, won Regular Season championship and MACC game.

And blew out C-USA champs in bowl game.

I just hope U-M doesn't try to hire Lance Taylor away from us.

He's not on their radar. They're looking at Kalen DeBoer & Kenny Dillingham.

They need Bama to lose tonight to pursue DeBoer.

Both of them - DeBoer and Dillingham - have already said "No."

Umich job could be unstable. Interm President & AD soon to be fired.
Umich board has lots of their own issues.

Yeah it's gonna take a special person to take that job. I don't think UM deserves a guy like Lance Taylor.

Most impressive season I have seen from the broncos. Yeah not the greatest team ever. But the way this team overcame, finished the season, and defied odds, and won hardware ( x4)

RE: These are the Good Old Days: 2nd Best Season Ever?
Betting futures had us at O/U 4.5 wins for the season.

Definitely the best football season in my 30 years of following outside of 2016. I've said this before, but that Toledo comeback was like that Ball State comeback during the Fleck era, set the tone from that point on.

Interesting that after so many years of high-flying pass-oriented offenses, we do it with a predominately running attack.

Dillinham, when asked about U-M, was emotional about being HC at his alma mater (Arizona State).

And you think those are no's?

What are either of those coaches supposed to say while they are still coaches of other teams? Kalen DeBoer has a CFP game tonight. Should he have told the world he was interested in the Michigan job?

Nick Saban once said he wasn't going to coach at Alabama.

Yes I think w/out question this is our 2nd best season in program history. 2nd most wins, MAC Champ, rivalry wins, tough MAC schedule, Bowl win vs a fellow champ. We just didn't get that big P4 win. It's gonna be hard to top this season. The good news is, you can. I like Taylor said in the press conference last week this program can make the Playoff.

RE: These are the Good Old Days: 2nd Best Season Ever?
Almost, I could come close to #1, but only by how respect grew week by week. I had them winning 5 games, maybe 6 with some luck. The MAC schedule looked so tough. Toledo early. Miami and Ohio both. Never thought even a chance at MSU or Illinois. They worked hard for North Texas win, but came up short. None of us knew that North Texas was badass. I thought OMG Toledo is going to break our spirit and downhill after that. Nope. We just kept developing and maturing. D carried the load while O came together. Lowery punching over his weight plus I kept thinking the dude was going to go down with an injury at any moment.
I was at the 2016 Northwestern. I wasn’t seeing team so much as some good individual talent. Tip my hat to them for the near perfect season, there was a lot of excitement and hype. Probably #1.
Even so, looking back on it, this 2025 team has my heart in some kind of emotional way. The 2016 team had the perfect record, the hype, the excitement. But this years team made me feel a certain kind of special way. I thank them for that. It doesn’t happen like this very often. I will never think of them as #2. They are real true champions. A band of brothers.
I loved when LT said last week. “I’ve been a walk on my whole life” I’m so glad we have him.

Congrats, Broncos. I didn't get to watch because I was busy playing golf but have to say I was shocked to see the 21-0 score with still 5 minutes to go in the 1st.
Thanks for repping the MAC.

That's a great write up! Thank you for that.

This team wasn't the most talented, but they won anyways
