Were you here then complaining about that? We must have missed you somehow.

Try the AUMF. Numbnuts.

Didn’t complain because there was an actual underlying authorization for the use of force. That is A, U, and F for above.

Now the schtick is “WHADDABOUT <something Obama>”. At least the comment has moved for once away from Biden. Still the same tired schtick. And better yet, rife with an apparent crucial lack of understanding that AUMF was in effect.

I addressed this earlier in this thread. The AUMF was for al-Qaeda. Not ISIS or al-Shabaab, or JNIM, or whatever other terrorist org you want to lump in that we've attacked over the years. The arguments that an AUMF were needed for AQ and CT actions was predicated on the belief that the President needed Congressional approval for long term, extended military action against combatants.

Obama absolutely used similar strikes against designated entities not included in the AUMF, so if you're going to rest your laurels on the AUMF then this isn't something you can have both ways. Therefore its relevant to establish a pattern of fact moreso than whataboutism. Moreover, Trump like Obama with the expansion of his targeted operations relied on Article II of the Constitution (which defines the powers of the President as Commander-in-Chief) as a standalone authority for limited military actions, particularly when those actions were intended to defend U.S. national interests and were considered to be "short of traditional war."

This is not a winnable argument to suggest that the current President doesn't have the authority to conduct targeted special operations such as this when every other President has used it to some degree without an AUMF or a Declaration of War.

You painted yourself into a box. If the attack of the boat was as you say totally legal in our "war" on drugs, the killing of the survivors with a second bomb IS a war crime. Sorry about that.

The fact that the most liberal rag in the land debunked this but you still hold onto it is ironically indicative of the exact post you made just before this one. It's the left's go to. Accuse of the same thing you do then Gaslight.

Which story would that be...got a link?

Meanwhile...

Quote:Navy Adm. Frank M. “Mitch” Bradley will head to the Capitol on Thursday to brief top lawmakers on the trump administration’s strikes on boats in the Caribbean allegedly ferrying drugs to the U.S.

The questions will likely zero in on details of the Sept. 2 operation, which has come under scrutiny in recent days after The Washington Post reported that a second strike was needed to comply with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s purported order to “kill everybody” aboard the vessel.

Take a $2,000 boat, put 4 $70,000 outboards on the back of it, put a bunch of cargo in the nose to act as ballast....Fishing. Lulz. Those boats are only designed to haul "square grouper" and "white lobster" at high speeds. The haul is normally to a much larger boat passing by out to sea.

Has anybody ever seen one piece of fishing tackle or apparatus on even one of those boats? Nobody equips a fishing boat with 4 giant motors.

Nope. Ask people around the Florida keys what that boat set up is for.

White lobster and square grouper.

RE: Second strike on drug boat raises questions
The cartel probably does use "fisherman" to make these runs. That has been happening since the beginning of time. Does it make any difference if the boat captain was a Dentist? He's running drugs. I knew a guy down here who was a shrimp that owned his own boat, and he got busted picking up coke in the Gulf. Feds were waiting for him at the dock in Biloxi. They tracked the plane that dropped in and had overwatch on who was picking it up. Who cares what the guys in the boat's profession is. At the time before being sent to Davey Jones locker they were a Drug Trafficker. See Ya.

https://thegunzone.com/does-fentanyl-kil...-firearms/

"While gun violence remains a significant public health concern, the sheer number of fentanyl-related overdoses paints a grim picture. The rapid increase in fentanyl deaths can be attributed to its potent nature, its presence in counterfeit pills, and the often unwitting consumption by individuals who are unaware they are ingesting it. In contrast, firearm-related deaths, while persistently high, haven’t seen the same exponential growth as fentanyl-related fatalities.

Contributing Factors to the Fentanyl Crisis
The fentanyl crisis is a complex issue with several contributing factors. Its illegal production and distribution networks play a significant role. Fentanyl is often manufactured illicitly in clandestine labs and smuggled into the United States. It’s then frequently mixed with other drugs, such as heroin, cocaine, and methamphetamine, often without the user’s knowledge."

Comparing US firearms manufacturers to cartel drug manufactures is also a pretty big stretch given one is constitutionally protected, heavily regulated, and legal. The other is a lab some where in South America producing poison.

Here we go again... In your world view

One person dying from the Covid Vax is a cost of doing business for the better of the rest of us - if it saves one life it's worth it.

Also:

One person dying from illegal drugs being smuggled into our country should also be overlooked cuz it's just one and these smugglers need to make a living too? But saving a life in this case is not worth it?

They hate Trump so much they've become hypocrites. We know darn good and well they were okay with Obama doing the very same thing, and they know, too. They just don't care because it's all about opposing Trump now.
